Big thanks to the Canadian Federal Governments support of @XanaduAI. Thanks to @MarkJCarney @EvanLSolomon @melaniejoly and to @j_maloney for being at the opening of our new facility called Inception!
With a CAD $195 million investment from the Canadian Federal Government, Project OPTIMISM is officially underway.
It was an honour to have Canada’s Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation Evan Solomon (@EvanLSolomon) and Etobicoke—Lakeshore Minister of Parliament James Maloney (@j_maloney) join us at our new Inception facility to announce this milestone investment in the future of quantum computing.

Xanadu has been featured on @TheCadExplorers; media with a mission to highlight founders building the fastest-growing industries in the country.
Our Founder and CEO @_cweedbrook sat down with @EthanJMarcoux to tell Xanadu’s story: past, present and future.

Why is Canada investing C$195m in its largest quantum manufacturing project ever? 🇨🇦
@XanaduAI, a Toronto-based company, is betting that quantum computing will be a bigger revolution than artificial intelligence.
These computers can solve certain problems that could take a conventional computer millions of years, with potential use cases ranging from developing new life-saving drugs to designing new materials.
I spoke with @_cweedbrook, CEO and founder of Xanadu, about building large-scale quantum computers in Canada and what that could mean for the world.

Cool
Xanadu has announced its second QROM breakthrough of the year, this time using "dense encoding", achieving up to a four-fold reduction in compute requirements compared to legacy industry approaches.
With this increase in algorithmic efficiency, Xanadu is actively reducing the size and cost of hardware required to run commercial quantum applications.

Research software, datasets, and the PennyLane Codebook.
Sebastian Feld at @tudelft has used PennyLane extensively across his research and teaching since 2020, proving that great open-source tools don't just solve one problem, they support an entire suite of educational and research needs.
If quantum software is a constant in your own toolkit, make sure the community knows it and take the @unitaryfdn QOSS Survey before October 29: bit.ly/3VFpEQ8
Heading to qConnect in Calgary this week?
Don’t miss Xanadu’s COO @rafjanik on the closing keynote panel: Moonshots in a Quantum World.
Gain valuable insights from Canadian quantum technology leaders on topics ranging from building a globally competitive ecosystem to the role of quantum in economic security, defence, and national resilience.
Xanadu’s Chief of Staff, Nikki Bhatia, will be attending the @NATO Science and Technology Organization’s Research Symposium on quantum technology for defence and security in Båstad, Sweden, October 20–22.
The symposium brings together defence, industry and research leaders to explore emerging technologies and their implications for defence and security.
We look forward to contributing to discussions on the role of quantum computing in future defence capabilities.

$IonQ’s 2028 machine: 26 days to crack a Bitcoin/Ethereum signature.
Xanadu $XNDU (assuming non-accelerated roadmap): same capability around 2031, but in minutes thanks to photonic fastclock architecture.
Own both companies!

Xanadu has been approved for up to USD $10 million in non-dilutive funding under @DARPA’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative (QBI).
This Stage B contract extension builds directly on our technical execution and progress under the program, and serves as important external validation of our photonic architecture.
We believe this funding will help accelerate key milestones across our hardware and software roadmaps.

Claude Mythos 5 is already designing quantum circuits that outperform the best published designs, sometimes by 10x or more.
If a model considered primitive compared to what's coming can already achieve this, just imagine what Fable 5.5 could do.
New from our STEM Fellows Program: Designing more efficient quantum circuits with Claude.
Given plain-language instructions, Claude Mythos 5 designed quantum circuits that improve on the best published ones, sometimes by an order of magnitude or more.
More efficient circuits reduce the resources needed by quantum algorithms, which could bring quantum computing applications in chemistry and materials science within reach sooner.

Yep LLMs are hiegly important for building a quantum computer @XanaduAI we have been using agentic AI for a while now and have really sped up our timelines
CLAUDE MYTHOS JUST MOVED UP THE TIMELINE FOR QUANTUM COMPUTING
Anthropic published it this morning. They gave Claude eight standard quantum subroutines, a checker that verifies the answer is right, and told it to find cheaper circuits.
The big one is elliptic-curve point addition. That’s the step a quantum computer would run to break the keys behind Bitcoin and most of the internet. Claude found a design with 17x fewer gates than the best one humans had published, using 12% more qubits, it ran for 53 hours with almost no human input.
Second one, a decoder inside Google’s own optimization algorithm. Claude cut the gate count 12x against Google’s construction and got the scratch qubits from 665 down to 19.
Every estimate of when quantum computers become useful, or dangerous, assumes humans design the circuits by hand over years. If an AI does it in a weekend, every one of those timelines gets shorter. Anthropic’s own words: this could bring useful quantum computing “within reach sooner.”
The people on the paper were Harvard’s Mikhail Lukin and Susanne Yelin. Lukin co-founded QuEra.

yep
quantum soon.
