I've been putting weekly logs for more than 2 years now. everyone asks me why did I start this? - realised that I don't have many private secrets as most people - always wanted a diary of sorts to look back but daily is too frequent to commit to - wanted to really focus on how I use my nerd polymath knowledge instead of just consuming the same (hence the format) - a public diary of sorts gives accountability and access of the information to future curious people - I made long streaks before so I knew doing something consistently gives lots of free good dopamine and time to retrospect every week to make the next week better - just like money, knowledge especially in written compounds. these logs are the SIP to my biography even without a reason to start, – to start – and to stay is important

Kept a log like this for a year. Learned more from the weeks I failed. What made you start week 1?

from the source of any new information I get, I judge the range of that source. asking how many people like me just got aware of this? then asking how many of those that know this piece of information realize the second and third order effects of it that impact them directly. especially if this implied impact is obvious or explained poorly in the source, that is when the number of people becomes important. If after all this, the number of such people turn out to be more than a thousand (considering out of only the domain of people that are in the context) then that information must be incomplete or incorrect is a general rule I go by. if the number is less than a hundred, then I need to double down on that thought and see how to take action about it to take advantage of the awareness. all this is a very complicated way of saying that the larger audience is generally wrong and not aware of the nicher context around any information or its effects

your thoughts can take you places. but sweep them away right after as well just like the waves at the beach. with little control

i was boarding off this flight and found a group from japan. took me a while to bring myself to confidence but I was able to small talk in Japanese and talk about what they were here for. they were very kind with my broken and accented japanese with more english in between. it felt nice being able to small talk still. they were surprised. I'll probably lock in and learn the language more seriously for real now

is this because of lots of existing human slop or lots of new AI slop?

if you can see that something really bad is gng to happen in the world, think about how you can make money off of it

there are too many layers of effort hidden in content we feed nowadays it is great because it leads to some insane quality of content but it sets most people really far from what the raw effort feels like there are many analogies to this happening in many different parts of life, social and in workplace

I'm not pro-AI or anti-AI. I identify as "confused about the future of everything because AI so fck AI"

honestly, smart glasses with video capture is definitely the best format for capturing memories. (in situations where privacy is not the issue)
