Comparison of varying states of realism as interpreted by Midjourney. Let's take a look. Here, my test subject is a portrait of a woman. Top row: portrait of a woman, [realism word] --ar 2:3 I used: none (as in I didn't add reality word to the prompt) realism photorealism hyperrealism surrealism Note: If you do not specify 'photo' in your prompt, it is super common to get an illustration. So, for the bottom row images, I added the word photo. Bottom row: portrait photo of a woman, [realism word] --ar 2:3 I'm using a super simple prompt because I want to observe what Midjourney generates without too much influence from me. A couple observations: Hyperrealism - more close-up than any of the others. Surrealism - further away shot than others (most of the images show more of the background or something on the woman's head). Often, a 'portrait' without the word photo generates images that appear from some older time periods or are a bit 'fancier' (aka not as casual). What else do you notice? These observations help me understand what does what in a prompt, and that helps me guide it to places. Not to sound too cheesy here, but the prompt is like the "mid-journey," and that is where the magic happens.😅 One style can work better than another - depending on your subject and preferences. P.S. These 'realism' words were more widely used with earlier versions of MJ, and although I don't see them used as much now, they can still serve a purpose.

Reply to accounts in your general topic area/niche - replying to accounts way outside of your general broader area isn't as helpful; not the same interests 5. Reply to some of the same accounts frequently + gets you noticed by the larger account (more likely to get reposts, follows, etc.) 6. Reply to share, continue the convo, add to it etc. + more likely to get a response from the account (this helps you) + more likely to get reposted/shared by the account (this helps you) Note: it doesn't mean you always have to come up with something amazing to comment - sometimes even an emoji or an image is fine 7. Don't add links to your replies - your replies can get muted - your reply won't be reposted by the account 8. Don't add quote posts to your replies - your reply won't be reposted by the account 9. Don't tag people, especially lots of people (only tag one or two if it makes sense) - this is spamming - your reply can get muted, you can get muted - your reply won't be reposted by the account 10.
