It’s really a resentment for Islamists’ hypocrisy & their corruption of Islam. Having said that, we’ve lived with this religion for so long.. it was injected against our will by foreign invaders and has become a part of us, of our language and metaphors, for better or for worse. I’ve seen such beautiful expression of faith in people. From the Turkish shop owner who offers a prayer before accepting donations to help the needy, to my Arab best friend in Ahwaz sending me videos of their family preparing nazr during Ramadan and sending us prayers. All faith is beautiful when practiced privately with virtue; Every religion is corrupted when imposed and weaponized by government.
