On the importance of setting in Scripture
In Acts, when God calls Peter preach to Gentiles, he does so in Joppa. He could have done this anywhere and anytime but he chose a time when Peter was in Joppa. 1/
Guy who thinks the third verse of B-I-N-G-O is a psyop to brainwash our children to support nongovernmental organizations.

Just to make the point clearer, this is a version of the ancient practice of child exposure, except the babies are very, very tiny and you don't have to look at them.
When I was in elementary school, my mom started going blind. Retinitis pigmentosa. No family history. No treatments. No cure.
I got lucky. She didn’t. It led me to build @OrchidInc so my baby —and everyone else's—gets to win the genetic lottery—avoid blindness— and hundreds of severe genetic diseases.
Today, the New York Times covered the tech we’ve spent years building:
Whole genome embryo screening for *hundreds* of diseases.
Not in theory. Not in mice. In humans. In IVF centers. Right now.
I’m going to become 10% more RC about sex every time someone tries to drive a wedge between it and procreation.
Replying to @noor_siddiqui_
Sex is for fun. Embryo screening is for babies.
I said that in a video.
People freaked out.
But it’s true. And it will only get more true as the tech improves.
We screen for what matters. And nothing matters more than health.
Preschool field trip to grocery store. Wife is texting me profile pictures of Lucy’s friends’ moms so I can pretend to know people.
Guy who reads all the lewd details in the parents’ guide of the raunchy 80s movie he isn’t going to watch.
Incredible
Old Earth Creationist guy who thinks all animals were spontaneously created at the time of Genesis 1, but humans evolved over millennia.
Guys like Licona who use the literary features of Scripture to smuggle in microwaved skepticism leftovers from the academy are really annoying to those of us who really care about divine literature.
Typology is when a biblical figure, event, or concept serves as a pattern or foreshadowing of something greater that comes later. It’s not about direct prophecy, but about seeing symbolic parallels in Scripture.
For example, Matthew presents Jesus as a type of Moses. One way he does this is by placing Jesus' Sermon on the Mount on a mountain, even though Luke records a similar sermon as happening on a plain. Why?
- In the Old Testament, Moses received God’s Law on Mount Sinai.
- In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus delivers God’s teaching from a mountain, symbolizing that He is the new and greater Moses.
Matthew looks to highlight theological truths—showing Jesus as the fulfillment of patterns established in the Old Testament.
