If you want to understand how much, as a society, we’ve slowly normalised road danger, watch this clip from tonight’s BBC News at Six.
I personally don’t think horrific crashes like this should be in the light-hearted “and finally” section.

“Purposes are deduced from behavior, not from rhetoric or stated goals”
This is such an important statement and why we must be mindful, not of our intentions in a system, but how the system actually works and what behaviors it produces.

I really enjoyed the book Thinking in Systems. So many insights that can be applied across so many fields.
Couldn’t help but relate some of it to software eng, such as reactivity, even though that’s not was she was referring to. Interconnection -> signal, etc

so weird how Twitter had over 30% women in tech roles before you bought it and now there are almost none
It's finally time to recycle the old tech cupboard. Hello DBAN old friend, and goodbye, faithful (and often awful) old laptops.
We got this one on a real budget to replace them both. It's a strange shape and seems a to be mostly hollow. You can use the screen as a mirror (not so much much as a screen) and different keys fail to fire each time it's powered on.

I wonder when it will become apparent to people here in the U.K. that, over the last 12 years, a few people have become very rich whilst doing very little of worth, while a lot of people remain very poor whilst saving lives, looking after the sick and feeding the homeless.
🤷🏼🤷🏼

Today's devastating Supreme Court decision is a massive setback for women's rights in the United States of America.
The right of women to make their own decisions about their own bodies is a fundamental human right.
Day two of new laptop @ripjar - MBP 14", M1 Pro, 32gb, 96w charger. I think it's already my favourite computer ever.

School Streets improve safety around the school gates, helping kids to walk, cycle or scoot instead.
Those who can't do that can park and walk 100m. Blue Badge holders are exempt.
Kids' safety is not "pedantic" or "draconian", so we'll be rolling out more in the West Midlands.

ALT The Sun Headline: We can’t drop or pick up our kids at school safely after pedantic council BANNED cars from the gates – it’s ridiculous

ALT School Streets article and sign They claim measures were rolled out in order to tackle what they claim was "nightmarish" congestion sparked by parents in their cars. Windy Arbor Primary School in Chelmsley Wood is one of the schools to have the draconian rules brought down on it. There, signs state clearly that cars cannot park between the drop off and pick up times of 8.30am and 9.10am & 2.45 and 3.45pm. It means parents can't even get within 100 metres of the school gates - leaving them livid.

The part that I really dislike is by tagging the term "web2" on to frontend engineering (the modern stuff today), young people assume that "web3 is the future" and a skillset they should learn.
"web2" is *the actual* web development. Learn this to have valuable skills.
