For your next website…

Define structure and layout in code with Svelte
Let clients edit text, images, and videos directly on the page — easily and safely, without breaking your design
This is Editable — launching in preview today
Imagine someone hacks your website…
…but all they find is public data.
That’s the worst that could happen to your editable.website.
It doesn’t even store user credentials, or emails. Just pages that are public anyways.
What if Claude could update your website live, with no rebuild and nothing breaking in subtle ways?

With Editable 2.0 Preview 11, your website turns into an MCP server. Claude & friends can then write and update pages on your behalf.
In other words:
Prompt to code for layout changes (needs redeploy)
Prompt to data for content changes (updates live)

Soon it'll be easier to build custom apps on top of Editable.
Add custom code through defined interfaces, while still keeping your copy in sync with upstream Editable.
There might still be conflicts to resolve, but they'll be less likely.
Don't like AI-generated content on a website. But turns out "translating" an existing page to other languages is a great use case for AI.
Soon every Editable.website will have their own MCP server for such tasks. And afterwards you can cleanup/fix bad text by hand easily.
Launched letsken.com in 2021. Didn't manage to get it off the ground, but still proud of the concept and implementation.
Finally got to downscale it — aka host forever™.
Before: Postgres+S3+ImgX
Now: SQLite+asset files
10x faster. Costs down from 50€/m to 0€. 🎉

You may have already heard, but the core SQLite team is working on Vec1 — native vector search (ANN) in SQLite.
It supports Euclidean (L2) and cosine distances, and uses SIMD for fast vector operations.
Vec1 is already feature-complete. The only things left are improving test coverage and making some optimizations.

Wrote about how you can now translate your website right on the page (without a separate admin panel).

Oh boy! This is already looking promising...
Thanks to CSS Custom Highlights syntax highlighting can be on during editing, without messing with Svedit's selection mapping.
This weekend: Will try to sprinkle some TWINKLEPLOP into editable.website. 😁

“Why not build editable.website on a more popular framework?” I get asked this a lot.
Because for building websites, Svelte is simply the best framework. And my opinion hasn't changed.
Async Svelte is going to be the best thing since sliced bread.
SvelteKit 3 is out!
Better environment variable handling, better error messages and sensible breaking changes with an easy upgrade thanks to our migration script which handles many things automatically and gives you(r agent) a nice Todo list for the rest

Been doing a lot of content editing on Editable sites over the past few days. At this point, I’m pressing Cmd + E from muscle memory on other websites I visit, hoping they’ll become fully editable. 😄
May be soon time for another attempt to bring syntax highlighted codeblocks to editable.website.
