A woman was threatened with dismissal by HR because she refused to wear a wedding ring at work, despite being legally married and having explained that she hated wearing jewellery.
She had worked at the company for six years as a senior accountant. Her performance reviews were excellent, she had never received a disciplinary warning, and her manager had repeatedly praised her attention to detail.
The problem started when a new HR director joined the company.
During an employee welfare meeting, the director announced that married employees should wear their wedding rings because it promoted trust, stability and professionalism, particularly when dealing with clients.
Most employees ignored the announcement. But when HR noticed that the woman wasn’t wearing a ring, she was called into a private meeting.
She explained that she and her husband had been married for nine years and that he knew she disliked jewellery. She had stopped wearing rings long before the new HR director arrived….

Landlord: “The plumber says the repair will cost $1,400. I need you to cover it.”
Tenant: “Fourteen hundred dollars? What broke?”
Landlord: “The pipe behind your bathroom wall.”

Landlord: “You signed a lease agreeing to maintain the property.”
Tenant: “I agreed to keep it clean, not replace the plumbing.”
The landlord sent an invoice and threatened to deduct the cost from the tenant’s security deposit.
The tenant asked for the plumber’s full report.
The landlord called five minutes later………..
