🏳️⚧️I believe it’s important to highlight trans people in South Asia rn, especially trans women who are the face of the trans liberation movement in the region.
Show up for us! Support us! We deserve that!
We deserve to live as anyone else! Our freedom is for us! Not to be stolen
📍 Bangladesh
🏳️⚧️ When she was 10 years old, Joya Sikder began to feel and express herself as a girl. Today, she’s a trans woman and human rights defender with over 22 years of work in Bangladesh—advocating for:
• The Hijra community, a culturally rooted gender identity from South Asia—representing a diverse community of transgender, intersex, and gender non-conforming people—and recognised as a third gender in Bangladesh.
•Awareness of HIV/AIDS and condom use.
•Sex workers’ rights.
•The inclusion of marginalised women and LGBTQIA+ voices in the UN Universal Periodic Review.
As founder and chief executive of Sompurna, Joya continues to champion the rights of transgender and gender-diverse communities.
✨ This International Transgender Day of Visibility, we honour defenders like Joya Sikder who inspire change worldwide.

i made a list of links for palestine, sudan, lebanon, and others in need of support.
for fundraisers, i added gazafunds rather than hundreds of individual ones, and kept the list simple to avoid ppl becoming overwhelmed when looking for info.

i'm sure many of you are seeing how relentlessly Lebanon is getting bombed and that at least 800,000 people have been internally displaced. you can help one displaced family by sharing this or donating!
A friend of mine found themselves homeless in Beirut 2 days before the current aggression started. Another one has been displaced for the second time with his family. Please help by sharing far and wide to help a family in Lebanon:
