trivia: • started working on the game as a side project 4 days ago, landing ~1,150 PRs • every time i found an issue in the code i asked bot to make a lint rule against it • used TLA+ heavily to find bugs in the game's various state machines: the story, cutscenes, the game's systems. there are many formal verification skills, one for each major system • i put context into the filepaths: code that runs every frame or every tick gets a .hot.ts extension, and a lint rule bans allocating in it (no object literals, closures, new, etc.), so the game loop creates almost no garbage and GC doesn't cause stutters • game engine is mostly custom. three.js draws the 3D scene, but the simulation, post-processing and audio are all ours • the simulation is fully deterministic, so every run replays exactly from its inputs. when you post a high score, the server replays your whole run to check it isn't cheated • we generate dynamic og:images for every run based on your final stats, and it's all localized too! the game supports 10 languages • my favorite feature: the music seamlessly transitions into different music for the various biomes, continuing the previous melody • no audio files. all the music and sound effects are synthesized live in the browser by a custom Game Boy-style chip (two pulse voices, a wave voice, noise) plus a synthwave layer. the songs are written as text in code • all the pixel art is code. every sprite is a file drawn with one shared palette and packed into a sprite atlas at build time • it runs inside an X post, from the 245px card up to full screen. the bar is 60 fps with 500 enemies on a mid-range phone • the build fails if the first download goes over budget. it's about 124 KB gzipped right now • bots play the game headless to tune each difficulty against target survival rates • comments are banned by a lint rule. if code needs explaining, the fix is a better name or a test

this is pure f*cking treasure A Stanford research group found how to orchestrate Claude Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra together, and it completely breaks the resampling wall most developers think test-time compute means running 32 blind retries on one model. you burn API tokens repeating the same 2-3 error clusters in loops Stanford's paper (arXiv:2608.05643) splits the compute between two different brains: > breadth search: GPT-6 Astra runs high-entropy exploration (T=0.8) to discover divergent solution paths > step audit: Claude Opus 5.5 scans each step at T=0.0 and catches the exact logic fallacy > local surgery: Opus rewrites only the broken step instead of dumping the whole reasoning chain > verifier-free consensus: majority voting locks the proof without relying on drift-prone PRMs the benchmark metrics outclass standard Best-of-N sampling: > 91.2% recovery rate on detected reasoning flaws > under 1.8% regressions on correct branches > MATH500 jumps from 29.6% to 58.0% (+28.4% absolute gain) > AMC-2023 improves by +7.5% with zero reward models Astra explores the maze. Opus repairs the logic you stop burning tokens on blind retries. you run verified reasoning depth
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
arXiv:2608.05643 does not orchestrate GPT-6 Astra and Claude Opus 5.5. One open-weight model generates, critiques, and corrects. MATH500 29.6% to 58.0% and the +7.5 AMC gain are for Qwen2.5-1.5B. Two coauthors are at Stanford. arxiv.org/abs/2608.05643

我收到的通知书上甚至明确写着,给予我永久居留资格“不符合日本国的利益”(not in the best interests of Japan)。
After months of preparation and waiting, I was given a letter from the Japanese government about my permanent residency. Unfortunately, it has been nothing more than a rude wake up call and a reminder of what I am here. I vented my thoughts out in this post. It's a tough day.

In parallel why not explore "fluid UI" a bit more. I really think we are at the edge to rethink how our interfaces are made in real-time in front of us ...

What even is time and space? Kurt Vonnegut's "Tralfamadorians don't see human beings as two-legged creatures, either. They see them as great millipedes - with babies' legs on one end and old people's legs at the other” So here's me walking through the world, leaving a 3D snapshot of every moment exactly when and where it happened. Feels a lot like onion skinning reality (to use the animation analogy). We are beings stuck in the arrow of time - who get momentary glimpses of what it means to break free from it. Perhaps this is one of those glimpses. Did not expect the last post to blow up like that. Really enjoyed the convos - thanks for all the love and the new rabbit holes to dive into.

Space and time reconstructed in 4D Is this how higher dimensional beings see us - every moment at once? Starting to understand what Vonnegut meant by humans being “great millipedes” - clearly it applies to our four legged friends too! Geolocated 2d video → per frame 3d gaussians → each left precisely where & when it happened

Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. 还有一张特别用心: we may Bend we may Break we may Fall — But at our Core we Remain Strong, Resilient & Rooted to Rise Again — 留言条总是能打动我。 期待影展见:zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/20…

“a key part of pacing within democracies is to keep democracies’ AI lead over autocracies as large as possible,”
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.
