Progressives traditionally support diplomacy and oppose enriching the military industrial complex. When it comes to the Ukraine proxy war, Bernie, listening to people with poor track records and careerist drives, has discarded that tradition. It has been self-sabotaging in more ways than one: not just ceding Trump the anti-war lane, which helped MAGA win two presidential elections, but propping up a Russia demonization effort that has been directly wielded against Bernie’s campaign itself. More than any US politician, Bernie has done so much for the progressive cause. But also more than anyone, on this issue he disgraces it. This is why progressive proxy warriors who push this agenda never want to debate it.
Disgraceful. Trump sacrifices Ukrainian lives in order to appease his fellow authoritarian, Mr. Putin. The U.S. must release the transfer of interceptor missiles to Ukraine. No U.S. alliance with the Russian dictatorship.

By undermining multiple peace opportunities, including the deal that Ukraine negotiated for itself in April 2022, Jake and allied bipartisan hawks haven’t just neutered Ukraine, they’ve cost it hundreds of thousands lives and a much more viable future. Every goal imputed to Putin is a projection:
Jake Sullivan on Ukraine: I think Putin doesn't just want the four oblasts and I think he doesn't just want a neutral Ukraine, he wants a neutered Ukraine. He wants a peace outcome, peace in quotes, that will allow him ultimately to render Ukraine essentially a non-viable entity. I think he needs to be denied that goal because I do think it is in the American national interest ... to ensure that this kind of aggression cannot ultimately succeed.

There are many ways for Israel to impose famine on Gaza. The traditional method is a siege. This is complemented by a campaign to destroy the international aid network that keeps Palestinians alive. Israel has blocked vital groups from operating in Gaza, while its allies cut funding to those still allowed to be there. Sadism prevails:
🚨 Due to funding shortages, WFP is forced to reduce food assistance in Gaza by around one-third, meaning half a million people will lose access to critical aid. The cuts come as winter approaches and the recent modest improvements in food security remain fragile. From this month, we are supporting 1.1 million of the most vulnerable people in Gaza with food and cash assistance, down from 1.6 million last month. Food rations will also be cut by half. WFP urgently calls for additional funding in order to keep reaching the most vulnerable in Gaza and the West Bank.

Belatedly seeing that @POLITICOEurope has updated the story about me with my comments. The story, however, contains elements of bias and outright distortion. It distorts my words in the interview with @aaronjmate. I wasn’t saying that Russia was compelled to launch the aggression against Ukraine. That’s a lie spread by far right info dumps like Visegrad24 and Nafoid scum. I was conveying what I believe is Kremlin’s line of thinking - how they in the Kremlin feel that Russia is the underdog that’s always compelled to strike first. It’s not what Leonid Ragozin believes is true. The subhead is simply slanderous and mendacious. “Widely seen” by who? By the warmongering bubble? Well, maybe @POLITICOEurope could distance itself from it a bit purely out of self-respect and for self-preservation as reliable media. My book on the conflict Ein Eiropeisk Tragedie starts on the line that Putin’s Russia must be defeated. But the discourse on the war, manufactured by war lobbyists, is so totalitarian now, any deviation feels like mortal sin. politico.eu/article/latvia-m…

FYI -- "extending Starshield access into Russia" means helping Ukraine fire missiles deeper into Russia.
Just back from meeting President Zelenskyy in Ukraine, Senator Cramer describes the proposal that he and Chairman Wicker delivered. It involves extending Starshield access into Russia in exchange for Ukraine halting strikes on Russian oil installations

The worst case scenario for Ukraine is unfolding: it's mired in a catastrophic war against a more powerful foe, that has cost it hundreds of thousands of lives and vital territory. It wouldn't be in that war had Joe Biden and his bipartisan neocon allies, among other things, not dangled a NATO "open door" they had no intention of actually opening, and then opposed the peace deal that Ukraine negotiated with Russia in April 2022. That's because, as former Zelensky spokesperson @IuliiaMendel argues, "the western political establishment would rather see Russia burn than Ukraine saved." Someone who foresaw this disaster was your former boss Barack Obama, who resisted bipartisan neocon pressure to escalate in Ukraine. You're among the Obama admin vets to challenge Biden's support for the Gaza genocide. Continuing to stand by his pet proxy war against Russia only extends the worst case scenario for Ukraine.
Worst case scenario for Ukraine.

Young, handsome men of fighting age staged a die-in in Times Square to tell Trump they oppose deals with Russia. “Deals cost lives,” they proclaim. How touching. How brave. How wonderfully convenient to make that declaration while lying on the pavement in Manhattan rather than in a trench in Donbas. I would argue that NOT making deals costs lives. And unlike a theatrical death in Times Square, those deaths are very real. Just imagine how many hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian lives might have been saved had the Istanbul peace negotiations in the spring of 2022 not been derailed. I have always believed, and always will, that a bad deal is preferable to an even worse war — especially one that grows more disastrous, more hopeless, and more suicidal for Ukraine with every passing day. And to these handsome young patriots, I have a modest suggestion: enlist in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. If you're so determined to stand with Ukraine, try standing in a Ukrainian trench instead of lying down in New York. After all, it's remarkably easy to demand that a war continue when the only thing you're risking is getting your designer jeans dirty on the pavement of Times Square. Dying for Ukraine is apparently a noble cause — provided it's someone else's job.

When Bari Weiss fired CBS' London Bureau Chief Claire Day for reporting negatively on Israel, she replaced her with one of the media's most brazen Israel loyalists: Shayndi Raice, who is a Zionist caricature.🇮🇱 She's now predicatably attacking CBS journalists for showing Israeli bombings on the sacred anniversary of Oct 7. Imagine having go to work and listen to this hectoring from a shrill Israel loyalist (a recording of a CBS editorial meeting obtained by Status):

The IDF provided cover, with tear gas and machine guns, while the settlers beat @washingtonpost journalist Heidi Levine nearly to death. Then the IDF shot a Palestinian bystander, and aimed their guns and shoved the paramedics who were trying to treat him. All of this documented.
Earlier today, IDF and Israel Border Police forces were dispatched to an area adjacent to Khirbet Abu Falah, following a report of a violent confrontation. Foreign media personnel were present at the scene and a female journalist was injured during the confrontation. All details of the incident will be examined. Upon arriving to the scene, the forces acted to disperse the confrontation using riot dispersal means. At another location where the confrontation took place, IDF soldiers initially fired warning shots into the air and then fired toward a suspect who ran toward them, carrying a sharp object and posed a threat to them. The confrontation was dispersed. Israeli Police forces and forensic investigators from the Judea and Samaria District will enter the area with IDF security to collect findings and evidence, as well as take testimonies. Violence against innocent civilians is a grave and intolerable phenomenon that requires a coordinated, multi-agency response. The IDF will work together with the relevant authorities to eradicate this phenomenon. The IDF strongly condemns this incident. Attempts to incite friction between populations undermine security in the area.
