The Indiana crew has started harvest this week. Yields have been decent, but a little off from last year.

Farmers often tell me they have a weed problem. We actively manage for weeds. Our kochia population represents a true weed population. Going to spray the trial as soon as rain is in the forecast. #weedproblem #kochia

These two corn eating machines have been doing about 30 trials a day. The challenge is seperating corn that can go to the right channel (ethanol, elevator, destruct). Overall good yields 225-250 bu/A here in SD. #harvest25 #kincaid

A drip torch is a great tool for burning canola residue to reduce volunteers. With our wet weather we have had a pretty good flush of volunteer canola. Still much residue to burn and do lite tillage.

We are finding tar spot in Brookings and Deuel County South Dakota. It is showing up late and at a higher level of infestation than in 2025. #harvest2025 #tarspot #fungicides #agresearch

Harvesting regulated canola trial. It requires people, equipment, dry ice, cleaning, freezers, sampling and eventually a combine. After that 3 years of volunteer monitoring. #harvest25

Over 4000 corn roots dug in the past week. Good pressure including a perfect 5 root 3.0 rating on a check. #rootdigs #cornrootworm #agresearch

Looks like some thing is not playing nice with our corn roots. A few western beetles no northerns yet. Probably start CRW digs next week.

We had a hoeing crew out this morning cleaning up plots. Hard to develop resistance to a hoe. Having a large group makes easy work of it. We are blessed to have plenty of help. #hoeingcrew #weeds #farmlabor
