The director of "Ugly Duckling Ms. Maeng 수능, 출제의 비밀", Lee Jaeyong, explained the casting of CHOI SIWON in his latest interview Q. The security officer character played by CHOI SIWON leaves a strong impression despite having very few lines. How did you cast him? At first, I envisioned a character who would appear wearing tinted glasses without even revealing his name in the film, and who would later take off the glasses to reveal either a funny or handsome face. However, CHOI SIWON’s facial features are so distinctive that I thought people would recognize him immediately even if he wore glasses. Since he is responsible for monitoring the exam-question headquarters and handling security issues, he doesn’t have many lines. Most of his scenes involve him sitting there wearing tinted glasses or looking at something. Acting without dialogue is not easy either, but CHOI SIWON’s aura and image blended well into the film. The movie will be released in South Korea on October 28th, 2026 🔗abcn.kr/news/articleView.htm… #수능출제의비밀 #UglyDucklingMsMaeng #시원 #SIWON #최시원 #CHOISIWON @siwonchoi

Director of "Ugly Duckling Ms. Maeng 수능, 출제의 비밀", Lee Jaeyong, revealed the behind story of SIWON's special appearance in his latest interview Regarding SIWON's special appearance as a National Intelligence Service Agent, he recalled, "Even though it was a special appearance, he had quite a lot of screen time, so CHOI SIWON asked me, ‘Does this really count as a special appearance?’" He continued, “The character’s name was originally Sae kang yeong (literally, ‘Tinted Glasses’). Throughout the film, he keeps wearing glasses, but there’s one scene near the end where he takes them off. I wanted to cast an actor with a dignified lower face and comical-looking eyes. However, there were hardly any actors who fit that description. We also needed someone recognizable to the public.” He added, “As it happened, we got connected with SM Entertainment, and even though it was only a special appearance, CHOI SIWON gladly accepted the offer.” He went on to explain, “CHOI SIWON has such distinctive facial features, doesn’t he? There was no way to conceal his identity with just sunglasses.” He also mentioned CHOI SIWON’s chemistry with Lee Sunbin in Work Later, Drink Now, saying, “He had such great chemistry with Lee Sunbin in Work Later, Drink Now that I wondered whether we should make use of that, too. In the end, we incorporated a little of it into the post-credit scene. Please look forward to it!” Ugly Duckling Ms. Maeng 수능, 출제의 비밀 follows Maeng Boram, a Korean language teacher who is unexpectedly selected for the CSAT question committee, a Level 2 state secret. It depicts her 40-day experience of isolation during the committee's secluded retreat. The movie will be released in South Korea on October 28th, 2026 🔗m.entertain.naver.com/home/a… #수능출제의비밀 #UglyDucklingMsMaeng #시원 #SIWON #최시원 #CHOISIWON @siwonchoi

Actress Lee Sunbin talked about her feelings for filming together with SIWON after Work Later, Drink Now at the premiere of her new movie "Ugly Duckling Ms. Maeng 수능, 출제의 비밀" earlier today SIWON will make a cameo appearance in the movie as a National Intelligence Service agent character. Regarding their reunion, Lee Sunbin recalled, “We filmed this project the year after we finished shooting Season 2 of Work Later, Drink Now. While filming a scene in the car, we talked about how it felt as though we were continuing to shoot Work Later, Drink Now.” She continued, “I thought, ‘CHOI SIWON really is CHOI SIWON.’” She explained, “In the film, the character played by CHOI SIWON sunbaenim appears wearing sunglasses and only takes them off toward the end, revealing his true identity. From the moment he appeared, I thought, ‘Isn’t that obviously CHOI SIWON? As expected, he’s still the same!’” She added, “We had spent two to two and a half years together, so it felt as though I was filming with a relative." Ugly Duckling Ms. Maeng will be released in South Korea on October 28, 2026 🔗m.entertain.naver.com/home/a… #시원 #SIWON #최시원 #CHOISIWON @siwonchoi
