Nigerian 🇳🇬 girls on fire 🔥
100m Youth Olympic Games champion!!! SS3 student of Nigerian Tulip international school, Abuja - Rosemary Chigozie Nwankwo won Nigeria's first medal🥇 at the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar. Nwankwo won the women's 100m title, blowing away the field to claim the win.

It might not count as a legal Personal Best, but Rosemary Nwankwo ran the fastest time (all conditions) that she has ever run. 11.16s (+2.4) is a remarkable time, especially in November. She could be Nigeria's surprise package next season.

There's no better feeling, than winning a GOLD 🥇medal and also running a new Personal Best. Gift Bright did both - on a day he will remember for a very long time. Bright made it two GOLD medals for Nigeria🇳🇬, helping Naija to sweep both 100m finals in Dakar.

From one Rosemary to another! An overjoyed Rosemary Chigozie Nwankwo pointing to the clock as she crossed the line to win the women's 100m Youth Olympics title. She succeeds her national teammate, Rosemary Chukwuma, who won this title in 2019 ahead of Julien Alfred. #Dakar2026

It’s only Africans who will criticize you for using your free time to unwind and call you “unserious”. Regardless of your success people will alway wish to have an “ I told you so” moment. Once again congratulations Super Flamingos🏆🇳🇬. #U17WWC #africawomensgame

To win a FIFA world cup at any category is not easy, so it is a big achievement, even major footballing nations celebrate it. 177+ countries have never won a FIFA tournament at any level, including those with quality systems and leagues. e.g Netherlands, Belgium etc.
What I will say now is not going to be popular: Is it a big deal that #Nigeria has won the #U17WWC? Not really. No major football nation celebrates these titles, as African countries do. Don’t get me wrong - winning is a good thing. But U17 and U20 tournaments are primarily about discovering talent for further development and building strong SENIOR national teams in the future. They are not about winning trophies. The bigger question is what will these players become in the next 5-10 years? Will they be in a better career or personal place? Will the @NGSuper_Falcons become a team that can compete for a WWC title, as a result of Saturday’s win? Nigeria has won many #U17WC titles and medals since 1985, in China. Has it turned the @NGSuperEagles into WC contenders, in the 41 years that have followed? Let’s think carefully and act seriously, if Nigerian football is to develop properly. One more thing: rewards. Players under the age of 17 are CHILDREN. If they are given scholarships and maintenance grants for further education, that’s in order. Plus, (MAYBE), an immediate TOKEN cash gift. If they are to be given any significant financial reward, it should be in the form of an investment that can only be used after the age of 21. Not before. That’s me done. What do you think? 🤔🙂

An incredibly talented group of players. the @thenff must ensure they play more international matches together to develop chemistry and tactical understanding. Possible invitation tournaments in 2027. 1. MIMA Cup (U17) 2. UEFA Women's Friendship Cup (U18) @thenff @ShehuDikko @BukolaOlopadee
