Today I crossed 7K followers on X. It took me 4 months to go from 0 → 1K. It took me 5 days to go from 6K → 7K. So instead of giving you the usual “just be consistent” advice, here are 3 things that actually helped me grow: 1. Go beyond posts and replies. DM people. Have real conversations. Build actual relationships. And if you can, do video or audio calls. It takes the connection to another level. 2. Post what you would engage with. Before posting, ask yourself: “If I saw this on my feed, would I engage with it?” If you wouldn’t, why would anyone else? 3. Stay in your niche. Find people in your niche. Follow them. Engage with them. Post about the same topics. Reply to them. I try to make almost everything I do on X related to my niche. The more you jump between completely different topics, the harder it becomes for the algorithm to understand who your content is for.

Yesterday someone made fun of me for working behind an IKEA desk. Well… Bill Gates started in a garage. Oops. I forgot I’m not Bill Gates. I’m just a guy with an IKEA desk and big dreams.

I wish this post reached millions of impressions and thousands of builders. Because I’m building a social network for people who create. I just want more of them to find it.

i guess we humans made deals way too complicated. we’re the same creatures who used to trade 3 apples for a piece of meat. now we say: give me $19.99 and i’ll give you 999 credits, valid for 30 days, which you can use to unlock 47 different things. we really lost the plot.

i think we’re seeing the worst side of the “Outbid clone wave” now. i’ve been watching builders rush to make their own clones after seeing how much money the original made in such a short time. they see the money, copy the idea, and try to get their share as quickly as possible. there’s barely any thought about building something meaningful or making the product better. just easy money from people’s pockets. what a shame.

In the 1990s, music companies started making songs louder so they would stand out from the competition. Eventually, songs got louder but also flatter and more tiring to listen to. I think product builders are doing the same with engagement. More notifications, popups, streaks and gamification. The numbers go up, but the product gets worse. Music eventually learned that louder doesn’t mean better. I think product builders are still in the middle of their “loudness war.”

I’m 38. > At 6, I entered the education system. > At 31, I got my PhD. > At 21, I got my first salary. > At 37, I left my last corporate job. And after 25 years of studying and 16 years of working inside the “normal” system, I finally understood the most basic rule of becoming rich and claiming your freedom: “Build an audience. Solve a problem. Build the best solution.” 41 years of education and corporate life. And nobody ever taught me this. Because the system teaches you how to become valuable to someone else, not how to build something that works for you. What a pity.

My take from watching products like outbid dot lol: Almost every successful original product gets copied. Some copycats are even better designed and have a better experience. But the original often still wins. Being first gives you something competitors can’t easily copy: people’s trust, and first-mover advantage.

Every time I travel somewhere new, I have the same thought: How beautiful this world is. How little of it I’ve seen. How short life is to see it all. Then I come home. I go back to work, eat, sleep, repeat… And somehow, I forget. Maybe that’s the saddest part of life: We keep discovering how much there is to live for, then go back to living like we have forever.
