Many people don’t understand how challenging Minecraft is for AI agents. Let me put it this way. AlphaGo solves a board game with only 1 task, countably many states, and full observability. Minecraft has infinite tasks, infinite gameplay, and tons of hidden world knowledge. 🧵

Question for #overleaf users working on #chi2023 R&R papers. What's the best way to produce the marked up version of the paper to show the changes that have been made?🧐

As we go into PhD admissions season, I would like to issue a reminder: if "isn't an author on a published paper" is an auto-reject for your PhD program you are doing something wrong and should re-think your entire admissions process. My previous rant: xitter.cf/cfiesler/status/144218…
I just did a livestream answering questions about PhD applications and am really concerned about the number of people who think that having published papers is an absolute prerequisite for admission to a PhD program.

Of all things... I caught the common cold 🤧
Today I learned the simplest and most useful trick. Want your Unity objects to always spawn at 0 0 0? Just tick this box in the settings 🤯
#UnityTips Checking this box will always create your objects in the origin. No more right clicking the Transform for resetting. Available since the 2020 cycle of unity. #gamedev #indiedev

WOOF. I am finally updating my old Unity shaders from the built-in pipeline to URP. It's... a journey 😅

Things I previously implemented with 2 scripts now take 5 scripts with Post Process Volumes, Volume Overrides, Renderer Features, Renderer Materials, etc #Unity #Shader

Unity is actively working on supporting more custom post-processing effects (shaders), consolidating URP renderer assets, and writing up documentation for the new Shader API 👷‍♀️ But, for now, it's a mess in here! 🌪️ portal.productboard.com/unit…

PhD applicants (and friends of applicants) in computing-adjacent fields: this is a thread of tweets about open positions/faculty recruiting/programs. Probably mostly InfoSci/HCI/responsible tech/social computing. Please share, and also give me more to add! 🙏
