Just a reminder: 163 articles were published on Jason Arday in the week after he resigned. Same outlets: 13 articles on Cambridge academic James Orr after allegations of misconduct & a broadcast showing him seemingly engaging in illegal activity.

In October, I had the tremendous pleasure of working with Attorney Ryan Thompson on the defense team for Mr. Kelvin Atkins. This case, State of Louisiana v. Atkins (2025), completely affected my sensibilities concerning American racism, the American court system, and the systematic attack on poor Black men.
Mr. Atkins was a victim of domestic abuse, specifically police utilization and violent threats. Police body-camera footage documented this coercion. Black men often experience intimate partner violence as an entanglement with state power and white animus.
Social scientists and public health scholars must intervene to offer their expertise in these matters.
To serve as an expert in a criminal trial, I had to pass a Daubert hearing. This hearing was held before the trial to ascertain whether or not my research and knowledge of my area--intimate partner violence and intimate partner homicide--held up to scientific validity and scrutiny. This was the first time, based on the available records, that a Black philosopher passed Daubert scrutiny and had their research admitted into evidence in a court trial.

British Labour MP Diane Abbott, the first Black woman elected to the UK Parliament and its longest-serving female MP, has urged the British Government to assist Jamaica following the devastation of Hurricane Melissa.
Abbott, who is of Jamaican heritage and a former Jamaica Observer columnist, raised the matter in Parliament, stressing the storm’s impact on families both in Jamaica and the UK.
Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper responded, confirming that humanitarian aid and consular teams are on standby and that Britain “stands ready to help and respond.”
