While it's clear that agents will eat the world, it's unclear why blockchains are the optimal rails, at least in the near term: - Most agentic use cases will initially be heavily focused on automating tasks for businesses or acting an interface layer for consumers interacting with businesses - Card networks and fintechs like Stripe – who already own the end-business relationship, consumer trust, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance – are integrating these capabilities directly in their flows Until agents become truly autonomous, the limitations of existing financial rails – global accessibility, settlement, unit economics for micro transactions etc – simply won't be meaningful enough to push the adoption of blockchains as the dominant economic substrate for AI agents
