Nottingham woman Aisha Zaman, 27, who is also known as rapper “Bandit”, has been charged with firearms offences following the shooting of a police officer in the city centre.
PC Lee Lane was shot in the foot after approaching two people at a bus stop on Angel Row at around 4.50am on October 18.
Zaman, of Collison Street, Hyson Green, is charged with possession of a prohibited firearm — described in court as an adapted shotgun and possession of that firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.
Prosecutors told Nottingham Magistrates’ Court that Zaman is alleged to have taken the gun from a man and placed it inside her jacket. The weapon allegedly fell to the ground and discharged when the officer arrived.
PC Lane has undergone several operations and remains in hospital.
Zaman has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on November 20.
Several other people have also been arrested as part of the continuing investigation.
