Stuck on this one, potentially Onthophagus? The photo doesn't show the metallic red of the protonum/head. Antennae are throwing me off @ColSocBI @benclunie @DungBeetleFarms #beetles #entomology

Absolutely blown away by this Rhysodromus fallax I uncovered at Newborough Beach (VC52)!! She was found on the frontal dune in the same grid ref as specimens previously recorded in 2011. It's great to see a population still here, such a gorgeous #spider🕷 @BritishSpiders @cofnod

In the coverage of the amazing Skipinnish oak winning tree of the year, you might see a mention of black-eyed Susan. This is a lichen that loves growing on oak trees in #ScotlandsRainforest. The black ‘eyes’ are actually spores. 📷 Jill Donnachie

Collected from a pied flycatcher nest in oak woodland in Shropshire in June, the nest failed with 7x dead chicks left in situ. Any help appreciated thanks!!

Congratulations to #WPY60's Behaviour: Invertebrates winner! 🐜 Ingo Arndt (Germany) watched as red wood ants carved an already dead blue ground beetle into pieces small enough to fit through the entrance to their nest.

Great start to a weekend @CCBOIE a small ringing session in Cotter’s garden produced 25 birds including 2 very fatty Willow Warbler, 5 Chiffchaff and 5 Yellow-browed Warbler. The latter now all wearing colour rings as part of a new migration project @Dan_Gornall @_EURING @_BTO
