A matter of great pride for India 👏👏
MATTER OF GREAT PRIDE FOR INDIAN SCIENCE!   Ashoke Sen becomes the first Indian to win the prestigious Oskar Klein Medal (2026), jointly  awarded by Stockholm University and the Nobel Committee for Physics of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences for his pioneering work in String theory.   deccanherald.com/science/ben…   String theory gives a unified description of all matter and the forces between them based on the postulate that the elementary constituents of matter are tiny one dimensional (string-like) objects instead of point particles. Sen’s breakthrough work has shown that multiple string theories are all different versions of a single underlying theory.   Incidentally, I met Ashok Sen for the first time, when both of us were elected  as FRS (Fellows of Royal Society) in 1998. Ashoke ( nominated by Stephen Hawking himself) was young 42 yrs and I was an oldie - 55 yrs though!   What struck me was Ashoke’s  incredible simplicity. His wife Sumathi Rao has reportedly said that Ashoke bought his first suit and needed some assistance to wear his first tie for that prestigious 1998 FRS ceremony in London, when one signs in the same book that Sir Isaac Newton has signed.   A film made on the life and work of Ashoke Sen, when we at the H K Firodia Award in Science & Technology honoured him in 2005 in Pune, will inspire all our budding scientists - showing how science & simplicity goes together. youtu.be/CoVc5cM5XlU?si=vQNQ… We all feel so so proud Ashoke! @PMOIndia @NITIAayog @PrinSciAdvOff @IndiaDST @CSIR_IND @ictstifr @PuneIntCentre @kvijayraghavan

14 years ago, the revolutionary genetic tool CRISPR/Cas9 was published in Science, work that Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna won a Nobel Prize for in 2020. Bacteria and archaea protect themselves from invasive foreign nucleic acids through an RNA-mediated adaptive immune system called CRISPR (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats)/CRISPR-associated (Cas). In the 2012 paper, researchers found that for the type II CRISPR/Cas system, the CRISPR RNA (crRNA) as well as the trans-activating crRNA—which is known to be involved in the pre-crRNA processing—were both required to direct the Cas9 endonuclease to cleave the invading target DNA. Furthermore, engineered RNA molecules were able to program the Cas9 endonuclease to cleave specific DNA sequences to generate double-stranded DNA breaks. On #WorldCRISPRDay, read the landmark paper that describes the discovery: scim.ag/4nPmoe8

Absolutely. Indians have especially been wired with such thoughts.
Romanticizing research as ancient tyaga sounds noble on paper, but in the real world, glorifying poverty is the fastest way to kill scientific innovation. The ancient rishi didn't have to purchase a ₹2.5 Crore Next-Generation Sequencer, pay high import duties on single-cell RNA-seq reagents, or support a family on a rare and delayed ₹35,000 ICMR or more often ₹8000 UGC stipend! Telling young scholars that true research demands "detaching from money" is precisely the toxic institutional gaslighting used to justify subsistence wages, unpaid overtime, and broken lab logistics. Modern science is capital-intensive, high-precision engineering. You cannot build a 21st-century bio-economy on ascetic martyrdom. If you want world-class minds to stay at the bench instead of fleeing to fintech or Big Pharma, pay them competitively and respect their sweat! #MotorShastra #AcademicRealities #ResearchFunding #StopRomanticizingPoverty #SciencePolicy #HigherEdTruths

Even if this is true, this superiority complex is an utter nonsense!!! Example: All those who went to any private school or private boarding school, are those who couldn't qualify or dare to go for Sainik School/ Millitary School Entrance Exam.
Prove me wrong :– No student takes BAMS/BHMS admission willingly They are just failed to take admission of mbbs...

It's more important for the medicos to know that some of their colleagues in emergency or critical care are non-MBBS. Why should patient ask and confirm this?? Can you imagine how would a doctor react if a patient or attendant ask directly - are you an MBBS??
This message is for the public The first question you have to confirm when you or your family member reaches in a hospital is whether the attending doctor is a qualified MBBS or not ! There are many modern hospital and corporates employing alternative medicine (NON MBBS) doctors as ICU and emergency specialist which is not even the core purpose of the branch they study and has the potential to risk or misdiagnose the life of you or your loved one . Your safety is in your hand and ensure that at all cost !

When all the authors are elated to have their name in big shot journals and "sign" the authorship agreement form during manuscript submission, is it correct to blame only a single person for retraction?? @payaljs @manojpandey66 @AnuragSinghBio

Seriously 😳 I really laughed for a couple of minutes.
Education Ministry's claim of zero NTA paper leaks since 2017 Parliamentary standing committee finds it incorrect, talks about 474 court cases involving the agency, including 356 from the 2024 NEET exam alone 3 engines are masters are fakery and lying
