We're on the verge of something truly historic on the 4th of November, with many hundreds of thousands of South Africans considering voting for the DA for the first time ever! We will repay that trust by working to root out corruption, get basic services working, creating more jobs and making communities safer. We will get your city working for everyone! You’ve seen how coalition chaos has broken your city. When a main road (279) near Villiersdorp washed away in storms earlier this year, our officials got to work planning a bypass. The R5 million project will be finished in less than six weeks. This temporary bypass will allow vehicles to travel along this route once again, until a more permanent solution is in place. The project is providing work for 30 people, and local suppliers are providing materials and equipment. Staff are also being trained in bulk layerworks and concrete structures. Thank you to Minister @Min_TSimmers and the Department of Infrastructure team for their work on this repair. Bridge by bridge, road by road. #GettingItDone #ForYou

Learners at six Western Cape technical schools can now leave with industry certifications as well as their matric.πŸ‘ Today, @WCMEC_JacoLondt and I launched the Technical Schools Revitalisation Programme at Bellville Technical High School. Nearly 6,700 learners in Grades 10 to 12 and 137 teachers are already part of this initiative, working in partnership with Certify Academy to offer our youth the skills they need for a constantly evolving economy. We are also upgrading workshops, equipment and technology, strengthening teacher training and building partnerships with industry, TVET colleges and tertiary institutions. I want every learner on this programme to have a direct pathway from the classroom to a job, a business or further studies The first group of learners will matriculate in 2028. #GettingItDone #ForYou

Great energy at the Solar and Storage Live Cape Town 2026 Conference!🀩 Thank you to everyone who stopped for a selfie and engaged with me. Over 1,000MW of independent energy has been added to our grid in just two years. More power means more cost-saving options for municipalities. In Hessequa, Eskom's 9% increase was capped at 7% for residents because the municipality has built its own solar energy plant. And we're not stopping there! At the end of September, we commissioned the first municipal-owned solar and battery plant in the country. Our wheeling framework has since been adopted nationally. It’s also exciting to see how many young people want to be part of this growing industry. They are the ones who will benefit most from the work happening now. Thank you to our Western Cape Energy team, led by Alwie Lester, for their work.🀝 #GettingItDone #ForYou

Well done to @CityofCT metro police, and all other agencies involved, for these arrests. This is why we need policing powers decentralised so that local law enforcement can investigate crimes and get convictions. It’s time for a policing model that puts criminals behind bars.
Cape Town Metro Police helped arrest and chase down gang members armed with assault rifles, following the killing of 2 men in Steenberg. This is why we must build a Cape Town Metro Police Detective Unit to ensure criminals like this are not let back on the street and cases actually lead to convictions. This is what will make Cape Town safer for all 🚨

It’s always insightful meeting with the @amazon team. Today we met to discuss jobs, growth and investment in the Western Cape with Michael Punke, James Hickman and Busi Khaba. @amazon has been a partner in our province since 2004, and digital skills training has been a big part of that. These skills lead directly to jobs for our residents and help our economy grow. #ForYou

Two new international boat builds have taken place in the Western Cape this year, and a third is possible before December. Our boatbuilders are attracting work from around the world.πŸ›³οΈ I am at the African Boating Conference today. The luxury yacht industry is worth about R1 trillion worldwide. When a yacht is built or repaired here, local technicians, suppliers and restaurants benefit. We want to bring more of that work to the Western Cape. World-class boats are built in the Western Cape.πŸ‘ #ForYou

I visited the warehouse that keeps your local healthcare facility stocked and met the people who run it. They supply over 700 healthcare facilities, including 54 hospitals, with the gloves, dressings and dental supplies patients need every day. The Western Cape Health Warehouse at Tygerberg Hospital holds R142.9 million of stock across 510 products. It began in January 2021 as our COVID response, when we took over 96 lines of protective equipment such as masks and gloves. People in our department saw that bulk delivery would work better, and it now supplies dental, stoma and clinical items too. The warehouse employs 47 people, from drivers and pickers to procurement staff, including interns. Our facilities handle more than 280 million patient contacts a year. These are the people who make sure the supplies are there. Thank you. #GettingItDone #ForYou

Women can lead in construction and fencing, and Sharon Isaacs is proof. Her company, Amabamba Fencing, celebrated 30 years last night.πŸ‘πŸ€© Sharon and Financial Director, Cicelene Fransman, are business leaders in traditionally male-dominated industries. I was with them last night, alongside leaders from the construction industry. To every girl at school who is wondering if construction, engineering or running your own business is for you: it is. Sharon started where you are, and look at what she has built. Congratulations to Sharon, the Amabamba team and the award winners. It can be done!

Every child deserves a safe environment in which to thrive. But if they face danger, we must step in. Our Safety Parent Programme gives vulnerable children a safe, nurturing family environment. Minister Wendy Kaizer-Philander and I were on @CapeTalk this morning to talk about about this incredible programme. I urge more of our residents to join this "Circle of Care" by becoming safety parents. To every safety parent already opening their home and heart to these children: thank you.πŸ™πŸ’™ If you can offer a child a safe, temporary home, call 0800 220 250 (toll-free) or visit your nearest DSD office. If you suspect a child is being hurt, report it to DSD or the relevant authorities. #GettingItDone #ForYou

🚧 Progress on the Seven Passes road (MR355) near George: the R73.6 million flood repair project is making progress. Five failed culverts and four failed causeways are being replaced across the MR355 and four district roads. Scroll to see the work underway. Piling and concrete decks, reinforced earth and retaining walls are repairing slipped sections of road, and larger concrete pipes are replacing the old drainage. The project is also creating work for local people. So far, 10,458 person-days of local labour have been used and 92 work opportunities created. Thank you to Provincial Minister @Min_TSimmers and the Department of Infrastructure team for the progress so far. We expect to complete the work in March 2027, weather permitting. #GettingItDone #ForYou

Around 35,000 Western Cape jobs are linked to our exports to the United States alone. This is how important it is for us to keep building on our export markets, even when we encounter challenges. Today I met exporters, export councils and @Wesgro at the Export Industry Dialogue. Exporters are already finding new customers. Citrus volumes to Africa are up 40% and 21% to Asia. When our exporters sell more, they crwate more jobs. Our job is to help them reach more buyers, and to push for a port that performs. #GettingItDone #ForYou

Congratulations to all the winners at the @veritasawards !πŸ‘πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ The wine industry supports 245,128 jobs in the Western Cape - that’s more than 90% of all wine jobs in South Africa. I joined winemakers, viticulturists and cellar teams at this year's awards on Saturday, which drew 1,293 entries. The industry contributed R56.5 billion to the national economy in 2025, and it is one of our province's key export sectors. When this industry grows, our economy grows, and more residents in the Winelands and beyond have a job.

Lekker one, @THESTORMERS !πŸ€©πŸ‘πŸ’™ 39-22 over the Sharks at DHL Stadium. Well done to the players and coaches. Cape Town is proud of you! It was also good to see the @ILoveBoobies_za presence at the match today. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so please get checked early and tell the women in your life to do the same. Early detection saves lives.
