i usually tell this in snippets, but here's the origin story.
born in la, found myself in high places in my 20s which is when i met a grungy dallas rapper 19, fake gold grills, nappy braids, and a nowitzki jersey. we clicked.
he offered me a job.
he was @PostMalone
strong second option @DancingEddie_
i had a sunglasses brand with real demand at 23 and turned it into free merch
back when i was deep in tour life, i wore colored shades 24/7. airports, green rooms, hotel lobbies, 4am after the show. they never came off
i got them at a flea market in LA that i hit every sunday. nothing fancy. but everywhere we went, people kept asking where they were from
one day post looked at me and said "you could make a brand out of these"
so i did. and so strasvision was born
i was 23 with basically no business sense. no plan, no team, no idea what i was doing. i just knew people wanted them
i ended up producing 500 pairs and started selling them
then reality hit. you can't run a brand from a tour bus. inventory, shipping, customer emails, all while living out of a suitcase in a different city every night
so the business slowly turned into something else. i started handing them out. friends, crew, fans, whoever asked
you'd almost never see me on the road without a pair on my face. and that was the whole thing: the marketing was already done. i was the billboard, and people were asking before i ever tried to sell them anything
that kind of demand is the hardest thing to create, and i had it for free
i just didn't look up long enough to see it. i was so caught up in the life i was living that i never used that vision to look 10 years ahead
if people keep asking where you got it, pay attention. that's the business
In 2021 a network tried to buy my TV show after one episode. I never saw a dollar.
It was January, peak Covid. I'd just opened Artcade at Fred Segal in LA and I had a problem: empty shelves and zero budget to fill them.
So I pitched a show called "Holy Grail."
The premise was American Pickers for '00s kids. Creators, founders, and artists would hunt down the exact toys, consoles, and cards they begged their parents for. The Halo Xbox. The holo Charizard. Whatever their thing was.
Then we'd throw a party in the store and auction every piece, signed and minted on chain as a 1/1.
The network pays for the hunt, the shelves get stocked, and the creator gets a moment. Everybody wins.
Episode one was with @rust1n , founder of Higround (later acquired by 100 Thieves). We chased down his childhood grails, and came across this Halo edition Xbox.
Weeks later, a network put in a bid to buy the show.
That's when I found out I didn't own it. I'd made it while I was an employee, so it wasn't mine to sell. I got cut out, and that one episode is the only one that ever got made.
But I'll take the lesson. A network moved that fast off a single episode, so the idea was real.
hey @frankdegods are the @DeGodsNFT ledgers compromised…. asking for a friend
tomorrow is a big day and id be lying if i wasnt shitting my pants thinking about it
this whole thing started out as just a culmination of everything i liked in defi with some new mechanics, uniswap v4 hooks tied it all nicely together
i thought this was gonna be a project for the deep corners of onchain crypto, for the few hundred washed plumbers that are left. it was something we were bullish enough on to self fund the entire development of
never would i have expected a whitepaper to garner this much attention. i never thought there would be a timeline where i would want LESS attention on a launch
we are a lean team and we tried to adapt to everything, and i do believe we tried our best to do right by the ppl. i believe we set this launch up in a way that is fair and open, and the team will keep building in that ethos
i truly have no idea how launch is going to go tmr so nothing is financial advice, everything is experimental software, standard reserve is not a legally chartered bank or financial institution, play at your own risk
whatever happens, thank you for all the support. you’ve all given a few of us plumbers a lot to smile about
