I remember years ago when the entire @obsidian_llc team would fit in one subway car to go to the Haskell meetup at the @digitalasset office. How far we've come since then!
Hats off to the many people who've been working for years to make this happen. This is a huge milestone.

Two milestones for @CantonNetwork in the last 48 hours!
SEC staff issued a no-action letter stating its view that $CC is a digital commodity: sec.gov/rules-regulations/no…
The first TSV on any chain was launched on Canton with transactions in a tokenized security under the SEC’s Innovation Exemption. crypto.news/canton-strategic…
This demonstrates that on @CantonNetwork it is possible for issuers to permit their stocks to transact on-chain without the risk of their investors being subject to MEV and information leakage.

The first trades of a tokenized U.S. stock under the SEC’s Innovation Exemption have been executed on Canton via TSV LLC.
Not a wrapper. Not a synthetic. Real CNTN shares, with the same rights as on Nasdaq.
What powers TSV LLC? The Tradecraft protocol.

I think that generally issuers want to ensure that tokenization is done *right* - that their investors are protected, markets run smoothly, etc. The notice-and-objection approach doesn't give them confidence in that.
Great explanation of what’s different about tokenization under the SEC Innovation Exemption. This isn’t synthetic exposure. These are real stocks with real entitlements.
🚨 THE FIRST EVER TOKENIZED STOCK TRADES HAPPENED YESTERDAY ON CANTON 🚨
Wait what? You’re thinking… “There have been tokenized equities for years now.”This is different. Not just the first on Canton. The first anywhere under the SEC’s Innovation Exemption.
Thanks to @tradecraftfi the first National Market Security (NMS) stock tokenization and trade happened via @tradecraftfi.
In the context of the tokenized CNTN trades and the SEC Innovation Exemption, “tokenized NMS stocks” means tokenized versions of these real, listed U.S. equities. That means stocks that actually trade on Nasdaq or the NYSE and carry the same rights…. as opposed to synthetic or offshore wrapper products that only track the price.
@CantonStrategic (NASDAQ: CNTN) is the first public company to have its own shares tokenized this way. @fairmint is the first onchain SEC-registered transfer agent. @FiveNorthHQ is the first shareholder to move its shares onto the onchain register and seed the liquidity. @flowdesk_co is the first market maker. @CumberlandSays executed the first buy. Tradecraft’s TSV was the venue that made the whole stack work. Atomic settlement on Canton. Same rights as the Nasdaq shares. Verified holders only.
This is the difference between wrappers and the real thing.
Most of the ~$3–4.7B tokenized equity market today is offshore price-exposure products. No voting rights, no dividends flowing through the same legal structure, no transfer agent of record. Issuer-sponsored changes that. Because the issuer sponsored it, they skipped the 30-day notice-and-objection window that applies when a third party tries to tokenize someone else’s stock.
The SEC’s September 17 Innovation Exemption is a five-year sandbox (until 17 September 2031). Qualifying Tokenized Securities Venues can run permissioned AMM pools without registering as exchanges. Volume and symbol caps keep it contained:
→ Tier 1 (S&P 500/Russell 1000 etc.) is capped at 75 symbols and 0.25% of prior-month ADV;
→ Tier 2 at 250 symbols and 2.5%. Public trade data is required. Access is permissioned with identity and sanctions screening. No primary issuance.
What this actually means for markets:
→ Onshore, rights-preserving equity trading is now possible.
→ Atomic DvP + privacy.
→ Transfer agent as the compliance layer. Only an accountable, SEC-registered TA can say who legally owns the share and enforce the issuer’s rules. That is the piece that makes this usable for real public companies.
→ Liquidity and market structure will develop under constraints. 24/7 access is possible (subject to halt coordination with the listing exchange). Early liquidity comes from sophisticated participants (Cumberland, Flowdesk). Volume caps mean this does not replace Nasdaq or NYSE tomorrow. It is a parallel venue that can grow as the exemption is studied and, potentially, expanded or made permanent.
Offshore tokenized stocks grew fast because distribution was easy and the product was simple. This is slower, narrower, and more expensive to stand up. It is also the version that can actually sit inside the regulated U.S. market structure instead of next to it.
The implication is that the regulatory and technical rails for issuer-sponsored tokenized NMS stocks now exist, and the first public company, first onchain TA, first venue, and first institutional counterparties just used them.
This is why the build is on Canton.
Can you see the Zenith?
Zth.

That was a fun 48 hours around here and a great example of the crypto native / tradfi worlds converging in Canton
SEC gives some quality clarity on $CC - taking the launch route we did was not easy but has been worth it
I got to buy $CNTN on @tradecraftfi from my @canton_loop wallet in an AMM and deliver to my @bronwallet after the close
Last but not least, aped into some $PAUL on @supanova_app - im enjoying that nitwit xrp sycophant in meme form - heard the @squidrouter bridge got maxed out today and saw @temple_ny scramble to help
Lots more behind the scenes coming soon

A landmark first, powered by the Tradecraft protocol.
Delivered in collaboration with exceptional partners.
Only on the Canton Network.

This is bigger than most people realize.
$CNTN - a publicly traded company - issued their stock natively on @CantonNetwork , using the technology that @fairmint has been building for 7 years.
Then this stock was seeded as liquidity to an AMM pool from @tradecraftfi and market makers DRW and @flowdesk_co started making markers in the pool, utilizing @canton_loop as the wallet.
This feels straight from the future, but it's real and it's the first time.
Today the first live trades of actual tokenized NMS stock were executed on @tradecraftfi. $USDCx for $CNTN. prnewswire.com/news-releases…

Helping new markets develop means being willing to go first. We've played that role for over a decade, and did again today when we bought the first tokenized CNTN shares on TSV, with atomic settlement on @CantonNetwork.
It was a transformative trade, working with a group committed to showing how this technology can make markets more efficient while preserving shareholder rights and protecting the privacy of our trading activity so it couldn't be exploited.

History made onchain.
Shares of Nasdaq-listed @CantonStrategic (CNTN) have traded on @CantonNetwork through TSV, using the @tradecraftfi protocol.
Fairmint powered the tokenization, with our SEC-registered transfer agent maintaining the official shareholder register onchain.
A milestone that opens the door for more public companies to bring their shares onchain with Fairmint.

In just one week, we've gone from announcing plans to bring U.S. equities onchain to seeing the first trade of @CantonStrategic's tokenized shares executed on @tradecraftfi's TSV. This is an important milestone for Canton Strategic Holdings and a demonstration of how quickly capital markets are evolving. Let's keep the momentum going!
U.S. equities are entering a new era of onchain trading. The first trade of Canton Strategic Holdings' tokenized shares was executed on TSV, with atomic settlement on the @CantonNetwork under the SEC’s Innovation Exemption framework, marking a major step forward for tokenized securities.

Collaboration across the ecosystem is critical to building the next generation of financial market infrastructure. Thanks to the team at @tradecraftfi and @fairmint for their work making this vision reality on the @CantonNetwork.
We're bringing the first tokenized stocks to the Canton Network. Actually, to any network. Today we're announcing that tokenized $CNTN will be available via TSV LLC on the @tradecraftfi protocol.
Wouldn't have been possible without @fairmint and @CantonStrategic working together with us to find a way to do tokenization the right way. Thank you to the @CantonNetwork and community that has built such an amazing foundation for the future of finance.

You absolutely need something like this if you want to make strong claims about what your application can or (more importantly) cannot do with funds that flow through it. It's not a panacea, but it is an elegant solution to many of the problems of custody.
I feel an odd sense of loss at this: "On one side are texts produced before the arrival of ... LLMs. On the other, everything that has followed—texts that might still be useful, even compelling, but that will always face a lingering suspicion of not being entirely human."
"We have, I believe, crossed a new threshold, and all authored writing—novels, poems, screenplays, newspaper columns, not to mention love letters—will be judged according to which side of that divide it falls on."
Long, but worth it.
