Such good advice. I never once heard my teacher, Lama Kunga Rinpoche, (founder of Ewam Choden in Kensington, CA) say an unkind word about anyone, ever. What a feat!
In the Mahayana tradition, when we practice reverence to the sacred, we don't have to think that there is some kind of intrinsic divinity that we are worshiping. We are revering the flawlessness and emptiness of everything - Anam Thubten Rinpoche #Buddhism

Asked what meditation really is, "It's nonmeditation," an old Zen master said. A monk then asked "How could meditation be nonmeditation?" The master replied, "It's alive!"
Lama Kunga Thartse Rinpoche of Ewam Choden is my main teacher, so I enjoy promoting Milarepa quotes on my Twitter account

Thanks for sharing your really interesting story. I became a Buddhist the moment I read the First Noble Truth in a college text in 1970. Before social media, I never heard anyone acknowledge that life was suffering. I'm still working, slowly, on that 4th Truth.

I grew up in a home not celebrating any holidays. Many decades later I find myself doing cross stitches of Santa and smiling at my excited 3 yr old grandson in his Santa pajamas. I'm fully aware of the commercialism of Christmas, but not having traditions isn't preferable
