It's easy to forget this but one should feel gratitude whenever it's not the case
Holy moly... this new paper finds that 88% of VC-backed founders receive zero exit value 🤪🤪🤪

We live in a world where the PM of Japan tweets about PHP vulnerabilities makes you pause and think

marie kondo method for tech companies 1. make a list of every major thing 2. "If a new model drops next month, would this spark joy?" 3. delete those that doesn't

I'm very AI-pilled but there are levels to this....
University of Alaska Fairbanks student Graham Granger was arrested after allegedly eating at least 57 AI generated images from a campus art exhibit. The exhibit featured 160 images by fine arts student Nick Dwyer, and Granger was charged with fifth degree criminal mischief. [H/T: relewans]

I think the fundamental question for any company right now is "If a new model drops next month, does your company get better or worse?" Push towards "better" side of that evaluation with every decision you take and you will be very successful.

this also doubles as a great thread on why we still need independent universities no for-profit robotics company that raised 100 gajillion dollars would openly post about x10ing the data doing very little in the way of model comprehension
[1/7] We trained a world model on 30,000 hours of first-person video. It learned exactly where the hands go. What happens to the things they touch, much less so. Going from 300 to 30,000 hours did not narrow the gap, and a 4× larger model barely did either.

New paper! Science is constrained by physical and economic bottlenecks such as hypothesis testing, especially as many discoveries involve long chains of smaller steps and hypotheses, each requiring validation. As the marginal cost of hypothesis generation goes down, the physical validation cost is likely to remain inelastic in the absence of major investments in scientific infrastructure. Autonomous science is therefore not merely a question of raw capabilities - the allocation of limited validation capacity matters just as much. We argue that this will require deliberately designed markets and institutions, both to allocate scarce validation capacity to the most valuable work and to ensure public good research isn’t crowded out. With @weballergy , @FranklinMatija , @Dr_Atoosa , @vivnat , @alan_karthi , @sindero and I. arxiv.org/abs/2609.31562

many such cases
We have a huge pivot underway here at Epic, moving developers around to retool for maximum AI acceleration. The aim isn't to do the same stuff with fewer people, but to enable everyone here to build MORE and BETTER stuff, and to bring the benefits to all teams using Unreal.

This tracks my experience, and it will be a big day when it changes. GRPO to SDPO is not a big leap but even the best models never even gets close.
Replying to @EpochAIResearch
We gave Fable 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol 3000 GPU-hours and tasked them with developing a novel post-training technique that would improve on a standard pre-existing baseline (GRPO).

so happy people are working on such moonshots 6 years in stealth is one helluva bet!
After six years in stealth, Atomic Machines is out. Our mission: on-demand, universal command of matter. First beachhead: the Matter Compiler, an AI-native manufacturing system that builds working micro-machines from code alone. No per-product tooling. No process development. Different code, different machine.

yes great. we have a peanut sized ai industry so let’s quibble among ourselves that will put us on top
Berlin-based search engine Ecosia, used by government services, is dropping its French AI partner, Mistral, its CEO told POLITICO. The company will now bet on open-source models, including those from China. vist.ly/5mh5y
