Felt a tinge of nostalgia & lots of pride visiting @indiannavy #Swavlamban2026 today. Great to be back among the innovators & the Navy ecosystem #NIIO #TDAC that has grown so much since the 1st edition when the 75 #SPRINT challenges were launched by the Hon’ble PM @narendramodi. The products are now developed, inducted & some even proved their mettle in #OpSindoor!
I Will be sharing posts on the firms I interacted with over the next few days.
At the entrance itself I saw Matangi (the Autonomous Weaponised Boat Swarm / Autonomous Surface Vessel by @SagarDefence). This is by now a familiar success story of indigenous unmanned maritime capability that needs little introduction. I loved the caption on the boat “this is what ordinary boys from indian villages can dream” !!! Yes, indeed. This and much more👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻@Nikunj_Parashar @Mdlski @dang_lakshay.
Right next to it, at the entrance itself, was an interesting setup from Combat Robotics @CombatRobIndia (Pune). I think it looks (😉😂) like a rugged cable/hose reel system marked “for tough conditions”. Anyone know the exact application they’re demonstrating for the Navy? Any guesses?

Congratulations 🎉
Taking #Quantum-Secure Communication from the Lab to the #Skies.
#TeamSDE is honoured to have contributed its Unmanned Aerial Systems #UAS to a successful proof-of-concept demonstration of Fully Device-Independent, Entanglement-Based Quantum Key Distribution (#QKD), integrated with Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), by Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (@cdacindia ) at the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (#MCTE), Mhow, led by Dr. Anindita Banerjee, #CDAC.
The demonstration used an airborne #quantum payload to distribute entanglement-based cryptographic keys to ground stations, enabling secure, real-time #encrypted file transfer and successful decryption at the receiving end.
The #demonstration was attended by Lieutenant General Praveen Bakshi, VSM, Commandant, MCTE; Brigadier R. S. Randhawa, BGS; Brigadier Deven Makhija; Lieutenant Colonel Mayank Joshi; Professor R. M. Bodade; Dr. Amit Barve; Professor Vimal Bhatia, Indian Institute of Technology, Indore; and Dr. Shashi Prabhakar, Physical Research Laboratory.
We are grateful to contribute in the collaborative effort towards strengthening India’s indigenous technological capabilities and the vision of #AtmanirbharBharat.

JUST IN | Indian Army's Simulator Development Division has released a requirement for the design and development of a Multi-Utility Unmanned Ground Vehicle (MU-UGV).
The platform will feature a tracked mobile base, a robotic arm, a multi-camera perception system, and a secure remote-control station to enable the safe handling, relocation, and disposal of unexploded ordnance.
With the system also intended for export to the Philippines, this initiative presents an opportunity for Indian defence manufacturers to strengthen indigenous capabilities and expand India's footprint in the global defence market.
#UPDATE | IIT-K incubated Startup, Maraal Aerospace has secured the Indian Army’s tender worth ₹1.98 crore for the Development of solar-powered drones.
An AI-assisted simulation showing Arudhra tracking an F-35A is interesting, but it is not proof. We don’t know the RCS model, the aspect angle, the clutter or whether any jamming was in play. The number that matters isn’t the 400 km instrumented range. It’s the range at which a stealth jet gets a firm track. And honestly, even a detection at 60 km on a radar rated for 300 km means you’re not caught off guard. A turkey that sees the oven coming is still a turkey, but at least it knew.
India becomes the largest supplier of Explosives to Eastern Europe in FY26
✅$45M in explosives exports in 2025-26, surpassing the US ($35M)
✅Zero exports before 2022-23; rapid growth after Ukraine war
✅Part of 1,600% surge in Indian ammunition exports to Europe
✅Now 2nd overall for shells, mortars, propellants & explosives (after South Korea)
✅Fuelled by Eastern Europe's rearmament and stockpile needs

Just read a paper. China has developed CFD codes to be able to run production scale simulations on a single GPU. For comparison a typical ANSYS or Dassault Automotive CFD simulation would take 8-16 GPUs for the same run time and slightly higher accuracy. And the author of the paper and the PI is this person.
China is paying well to bring researchers from abroad to innovate and research in STEM for low cost CAE products while maintaining reasonable accuracy.
This is the difference. China pays well for global STEM talent to leverage it to solve its national problems(GPU shortage, costs). India too has a cost problem. Indian OEMs can’t budget for 150-200 GPU clusters exclusively for CAE workloads. But India wants to solve and innovate for low cost by paying low cost for talent itself. In the end India optimises for cost and loses on performance and time.

✅Scope: 4 Nos 1.8m SSS (Port/Stbd) & 2 Sets MBE (Tx+Rx) arrays.
✅SSS (450–500 kHz): >50 kHz BW, 40 Rx & 3 Tx modules, 0.1°x45° Rx beam, SL ≥203 dB, RS ≥-200 dB, 38 dB preamp.
✅MBE (625–675 kHz): 50 kHz BW, 96 Rx & 3 Tx modules, SL ≥185 dB, RS ≥-208 dB.
✅Depth/Env: ≥300m (30 bar design; 35–45 bar, thermal & 6 grms vib tests).
Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh today virtually inaugurated the Setting to Work Phase-2 (STW-2) activity of the Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) System Energy Module, indigenously developed by Naval Materials Research Laboratory (NMRL), DRDO, at L&T, Hazira, Gujarat.
The event was held in the presence of Vice Admiral B Sivakumar, Chief of Materiel, Indian Navy, and Dr R Balamuralikrishnan, DG (N&SM), DRDO.
The AIP system enhances the underwater endurance of diesel-electric submarines by reducing their dependence on atmospheric oxygen, thereby strengthening their operational capability and endurance underwater.
The achievement marks another significant milestone in India’s pursuit of self-reliance in critical defence technologies.
