Dear PM @AlboMP when you chair Cabinet’s Expenditure Review Committee next week to search for savings to appease the inflation dragon please consider an urgent audit re scrapping AUKUS and review all defence procurement. ADF is a bottomless pit of taxpayer $s now flogging off valuable defence properties.

My latest article for @shot_au where I point out that Segal's latest 'report' was not requested by government or the PM.
It's simply a rehash of last year's report - with a purpose beyond its pages.
It's arrival has more to do with her strategy of filling media spaces with antisemitism angst now the royal commission is over, and also influencing the royal commission findings.
It is also a document designed to inflame culture wars and get people arguing and create political division - a classic tactic of conservatives the world over.
Nothing Segal says is new, (except of course for the astonishing claim she makes that all Jews in Australia are unbothered by neo-Nazis!)
Comments welcome. theshot.net.au/uncategorized…

*THIS* may just be the sweetest victory of the Midterms…
Last year, Hegseth fired Nancy Lacore after 35 years as a Navy officer.
She ran for office.
She won.
Now she's his boss in Congress.
The lesson⁉️ Stop trying to remove women from roles. We are not going away — and now we're working — and pissed 🔥

The American people have had their say. The midterms are a reminder of the resilience of American democracy, but a bigger question remains. My thoughts at the State of Asia Conference in Zurich.

I’ve been staring at this photo for a while now, and I can’t stop.
Look at it. No speech, no confetti, no cameras doing their thing. Just a man and his wife holding each other on the night he became a United States senator from Michigan. The look on her face tells you everything about what the last year cost them.
Abdul El-Sayed, congratulations. You did it.
To everyone who follows this page, I want you to understand what we just watched happen, because this is a lot bigger than one Senate seat.
Eight years ago, this man ran for governor of Michigan and lost his primary by double digits. Plenty of people would have taken that as their answer and gone home. He went back to work instead. He ran the health department for Wayne County and Detroit, taking care of people who usually get forgotten. Then he came back and asked Michigan to trust him again.
What he got in return was one of the ugliest campaigns this country has seen in a long time. He got called a terrorist. He got called a jihadist. The President of the United States went after him with racial slurs and lies, over and over, betting that Michigan voters would be scared of a man named Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed.
He won his primary by less than a point, against the money and against nearly every big name in the state party. Then, two days before the election, the woman he beat in that primary went back on her promise to support the nominee and endorsed his Republican opponent.
Two days out. Think about what that does to a campaign, and to the person at the center of it.
He kept going anyway.
Last night Michigan answered. More than two and a half million people looked past all of the fear and voted for a doctor, an epidemiologist, the son of Egyptian immigrants who was born and raised right there in Michigan. In January he’ll be sworn in as the first Muslim senator in American history, and the first Democratic doctor in the Senate since 1969.
I keep thinking about the Muslim kids across this country who woke up this morning and saw his face on the news. Kids who’ve been told, quietly or to their faces, that they’ll never really belong here.
Today they saw a man who looks like their dad, their uncle, their big brother, standing in front of an American flag as a senator-elect. Nobody can take that moment away from them.
When he took the stage just before 2 a.m., he said that in a fight between the money and the many, the many can win. I believe him, because I watched it happen. Ordinary people knocked on doors, made phone calls, chipped in a few dollars they didn’t really have, and refused to let hate decide the outcome.
So to Dr. El-Sayed, and Dr. Sarah Jukaku, the woman holding him in this picture who stood beside him through every insult and every sleepless night: thank you.
Thank you for not quitting. Thank you for showing a whole lot of people that this country still has room for them.
The people who threw everything they had at this man were counting on fear being enough. Michigan just showed them it wasn’t, and from now on every campaign built on that same fear has to answer for what happened here.

Egyptian American Abdul El-Sayed studies political science and biology at the University of Michigan, graduating with highest distinction. He earns a doctorate in public health at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, then a medical degree from Columbia University, where he becomes an epidemiology professor.
He goes on to lead Detroit’s public health department.
And now, he has been elected to the United States Senate from Michigan…
The son of an immigrant rises from scientist to public health leader to U.S. senator.

BREAKING: NOT SO FAST! Hakeem Jeffries pins JD Vance to the wall for trying to escape blame for the Iran War after the blue tsunami.
You made your bed, now lie in it…
“We’re not going to let JD Vance run away from his own record of supporting Donald Trump’s reckless and failed war,” said Jeffries, describing Vance and Marco Rubio as “consistent cheerleaders” for the disastrous conflict.
“Their record on standing behind Donald Trump and wasting billions of taxpayer dollars to drop bombs in Iran, and then, as a result of their actions, skyrocketing prices on the American people, particularly as it relates to gas, is one that certainly played a role in the decisive defeat that the MAGA extremists experienced,” said Jeffries.
In the wake of Tuesday’s elections and the total collapse of the MAGA movement, Vance has been scrambling to distance himself from the deeply unpopular war. He penned a lengthy post blaming it for his party’s defeat, conveniently eliding the fact that he never voiced any public opposition to it. In fact, he promised the American people that it would not turn into an extended quagmire. Which it has.
This is quintessential Vance. He’s a slimy opportunist with no spine and no real beliefs. He desperately wants to run for President but he’s an awful, repulsive politician who is now mired waist deep in this administration’s failures. Meanwhile, there are already rumblings that Marco Rubio will soon resign to distance himself from Trump ahead of 2028. As Vice President, Vance can’t do that without creating one of the biggest, messiest stories in American political history and alienating the base that he’ll need to court in a future primary.
He’s stuck between a rock and a hard place, which is right where he belongs.
Democrats need to bring the hammer down and bring it down hard. Issue subpoenas and uncover all of the backroom conversations that laid the groundwork for this illegal war. Expose Vance’s role and ram the final nail into his political coffin.
Please ❤️ and share if you would NEVER vote for JD Vance!
