A little breathing room on rates. Oct. 28 Fed hike odds: 53.7% in an earlier report → 32.7% in the Oct. 14 closing snapshot. Hold: 67.3%. Unchanged rates are the clear favorite again. Encouraging shift, but the decision is still ahead.

The inflation fight just got harder. September CPI hit 3.7%, up from 3.4%. Core climbed to 2.6% from 2.4%. Prices rose 0.6% in a single month. The Fed’s next move just got more complicated.
