"He has been using this honey trap method since the very beginning... He's tried this over and over again”
Christiane Amanpour, CNN Chief International Anchor, questions whether President Trump's approach to diplomacy is working with President Putin.

Israeli settlements have massively expanded in the occupied West Bank under the current Israeli government – along with a major spike in violent attacks on Palestinians. @JDiamond1 reports on how the government has allowed this and whether elections could prompt any change.

Churchill could have shortened WW2 by years if he had just “done a deal” with Hitler. George Washington could have done a deal to end the American Revolution. Zelenskyy is in good company.
My take: Putin gave up nothing by releasing a 74-year-old American held as a pawn for this type of moment. Putin is not a humanitarian, despite how Mr Witkoff addressed him. And whereas President Trump says he gave up nothing for Stephen Hubbard's release, you will hear all the experts correctly say that he did: busting his own sanctions for a diesel deal with Putin that could put $4 billion into his war chest; inviting Putin to the G20; and dumping Putin's victim, Ukraine, face down in the mud, as it tries to defend its sovereignty and its freedom. You’ve heard the historians call all this appeasement, going against America's own democratic values.

A concerning moment for freedom of the press in Serbia, right before elections. A free and independent press should be non-negotiable in any democracy.
10 journalists from Serbia's N1 resigned today. The channel was for a long time the only TV channel that issued reports critical of the government. In May, its parent company was sold to to Luxembourg-based European Future Media Investments, managed by Alpac Capital. (After Alpac bought Euronews in 2022, reporters from Direkt36 and Le Monde showed that the acquisition was partly financed by Hungarian state capital and companies connected to the political network of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.)
But back to the resignations. Here's an excerpt of the letter the 10 journalists sent to their management, which was shared with me:
"Under the new management, we have witnessed falsehoods, manipulation, insidious censorship, the public discrediting of colleagues, their professional marginalisation, insults and humiliation, changes to programme editors, and a refusal to engage in open
discussions about the problems.
While genuine dialogue within the newsroom has been eliminated, the illusion of dialogue is being created on air. We do not want to take part in misleading our audience through the simulation of debates, the forced presentation of opposing political actors as equivalent, and the staging of normality while disregarding the authorities’ long-standing and well-documented treatment of N1, as well as the broader social and political context in which we live and work.
Precisely because Serbia is facing the most unpredictable elections since N1 was established, we refuse, under these circumstances, to lend legitimacy to an editorial policy we cannot stand behind. The new management has restricted our scope for action to such an extent that our remaining at N1 would have no impact on what its programming looks like in the days ahead."
THANK YOU Wolf, Pamela and all the wonderful people who’ve responded so warmly, both inside and out of the building!🙏🏽

To be clear: Some facts are neither in dispute nor unclear. Our photographer was clearly marked as Press. She was clearly beaten. These are not partisan or risible statements, but indisputable. We urge a thorough investigation and accountability.
The Prime Minister’s Office:
The facts surrounding the confrontation near Abu Falah, during which Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine was allegedly assaulted, remain unclear and are under investigation.
Israel unequivocally condemns violence against anyone—Jews, Arabs, Christians or journalists. Those responsible will be held accountable.
But serious questions remain. Reports indicate some 200 Arabs and far-left activists confronted approximately 40 Israeli youths. Footage shows masked individuals on both sides hurling objects, amid reports of fireworks fired at Jewish youths. Other footage appears to show Levine knocked down and immediately helped to her feet by the same unidentified individual.
The investigation must establish the facts, including who initiated the violence.
We will not allow disputed incidents to be exploited to demonize the hundreds of thousands of law-abiding Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria.
The facts must determine the conclusions. Not the headlines.
“I think it is a bit unusual that we have a leader with such power, which the president of the United States has, who happens to be such an inadequate leader for the world.” Former Irish President Mary Robinson reflects on the importance of rule of law and her view of the Trump administration's conduct.
“This became a place where the impossible suddenly became possible because of dialogue.” 40 years after Ronald Reagan met Mikhail Gorbachev in Reykjavik to negotiate solutions to the world’s greatest problems, I spoke with Iceland’s President @HallaTomas about lessons for today.
If Ethel Kennedy were alive today to see how President Trump is changing the face of Washington, “she’d be there with a pickaxe at the Kennedy Center taking [Trump’s] name off the wall,” her daughter Kerry tells me. “She was a woman of action.”
“Bobby’s endorsement of Trump is anathema to everything that we’ve ever been taught as a family,” Kerry Kennedy tells me of her brother, RFK Jr.
“I don’t understand how Bobby said to himself that this is ok to do… [But] so many families… are in this position of having a split… We need to continue to see the dignity in one another.”
