My dad was my best friend. We could finish each other's sentences, and we spoke every day of my life about business, politics, life, and most importantly, family.
He passed away last night (Nov 12th) with all of us at his side. Until the last minute, he worked with us on everything from his obituary, to what he wanted at his funeral, and how we can keep his legacy alive (including our strong PEI roots in Georgetown and beyond).
He was the healthiest person I knew, active for 3 hours a day through his late 70s until a sudden AML leukemia diagnosis this spring rocked our lives.
My dad fought so hard throughout this battle, and he never complained. The nurses would ask him how he was doing and he would smile, compliment their "terrific" work, and ask them about their lives.
Late in the summer, the chemo started to work so we had him home with us on PEI where we enjoyed many wonderful days. Unfortunately, this past Friday, things took a turn for the worse and we rushed from our home in Toronto to be by his side. The leukemia had returned with a vengeance, and the chemo was no longer working.
I am grateful that we had six extra (and often tough) months with him thanks to modern medicine and phenomenal healthcare teams in both Toronto (@Sunnybrook) and on the Island (@QEHFoundation).
Also, more than 50 blood transfusions kept him alive throughout this time and gave him more better days than worse (thank you @CanadasLifeline - if you can donate, please do).
My dad's funeral is this Saturday, which will be a celebration of his incredible life. I look forward to sharing more about him, but it will undoubtedly be the toughest speech of my life because you couldn't possibly sum up what he meant to me and so many others in such a short amount of time.

"One of the major issues raised by early reviews of the iPhone Duo is limited support by third-party apps (w/) 3 tiers of support currently, the worst of which sees an iPhone app stranded in the center of a mostly black area of the display. The good news is that Apple says the position is changing rapidly, citing 'incredible' support for the larger display of the folding iPhone" 9to5mac.com/2026/10/22/apple…
Musk claims his long-delayed Tesla Roadster "can basically fly like a rocket". @jeffmacarthur deep dive into why that's just not true (even if there are many cool things about the demo), what it'll cost, & how this fits into a Tesla/SpaceX merger in the latest The @AmberMac Show.
Totally agree! If I had a dollar for every DM I get from people who are upset that I don't share their exact same opinion...

🚨Breaking news: US. banks are taking hits from AI agents
“findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond”
Predictions:
1. No matter how much chaos generative AI causes, the AI industry will not take real responsibility
2. The Trump administration will not hold them responsible
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

"Google will begin force-migrating Gems on personal Google accounts into a new format called Skills (&) moving Spark, its background agent, into the main chat as Task, right alongside Scheduled Actions, a timer feature that’s been around since 2025. Good luck guessing which does what from the names alone." androidpolice.com/googles-re…

A dark Glengarry-style cap with a small pom-pom top and checkered band sits atop his head.
