When Trump says the US is "making money like never before," he's not talking about you. He's talking about himself, his family, and his billionaire buddies. He doesn't give a fuck about you.

The fact that Trump will remove tariffs to help Republicans win elections, but he won’t remove tariffs to help Americans afford necessities, tells you exactly what his priorities are.
BREAKING:
The United States is expected to remove 50% tariffs on some Canadian products in a bid to help Maine Senator Susan Collins and other Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections.

There is something deeply wrong with a political system that allows one trillionaire to buy his own personal U.S. Senator.

People aren't just TIRED. They're grieving the lives they thought they'd be living by now while trying to survive a reality that keeps moving the finish line.

Tom Petty would have turned 76 today. Here he is telling how he wrote “The Waiting.”
He had the lick and the chorus fast, then got stuck for a week, playing it over and over until his neighbors banged on the wall yelling “don’t play that anymore!”
Fitting, for a song about how the waiting is the hardest part. Happy birthday, Tom.
El-Sayed: J.D. Vance was just in Michigan. He had a cute little rally in Monroe. He invited the five people who like him. But imagine being the candidate for Michigan and having to invite somebody from Ohio to campaign for you.
Now, at his little rally, he wanted to raise questions about my commitment to America. And let me tell you, nobody understands how deep and profound the gift of this country is like a kid who was born here but for the accident of history that allowed that to happen. I got a front-row seat to what my life might have been had I not been born in America.
So don’t lecture me about America. I know America. And I know that in America…
In America, we’re big enough to guarantee health care to our people rather than taking it away.
In America, we’re big enough to invest in unions rather than busting them.
In America, we don’t tell people what to believe. We value their beliefs.
In America, we don’t question the outcomes of democratic elections.
I’m really happy for this team, they have one of the best leading them now. I mean, I’m still going to cheer against them when they play UND 😁 but after everything they’ve been through this season, I wish the best for them.
German police have seized a humanoid robot after it allegedly touched a 16-year-old girl in an indecent manner and made sexually suggestive gestures toward her.
Investigators were trying to determine whether the robot's actions were deliberately controlled by a 16-year-old boy and 19-year-old man who apparently livestreamed the incident in the western city of Cologne on social media. @annanorys reports.
“I feel bad for the kids who are fourteen. I at least got a chance to use my brain for one or two minutes, and that's still priceless. I got to be human. I got to be more than just some puppet who presses Enter so something can think for me.”
Received a moving message from an aspiring mid-20s professional that, I think, captures an increasingly widespread despair among younger cohorts:
"It really saddens me when I hear about the work [senior people in the field] are doing. Their work seems interesting, and I'll never get to do it.
The people in their fifties and sixties, they're lucky. I'm even lucky. I feel bad for the kids who are fourteen. I at least got a chance to use my brain for one or two minutes, and that's still priceless. I got to be human. I got to be more than just some puppet who presses Enter so something can think for me.
It's very depressing looking at people who are sixty, who I would love to be in twenty years. But to know that I won't get to do that because Dario said so, right? And, like, that's actually heartbreaking.
It's heartbreaking to know that no matter how hard you try and no matter what you do, you cannot add value as a human being in a year or two's time.
It's like hitting a brick wall. You feel no motivation to build the skill, to get better, to attain wisdom and knowledge. It seems worthless to you. And all the older people are telling you all your efforts might be worthless, and they don't need you anymore. And they can just sit there and, you know, make money and leave you to drown."

Life/art is about the journey, not the destination. Generative AI represents & reifies the death of imagination. The ultimate failure to launch. @maximilian_ nails it. Life/art without struggle is empty. Devoid of meaning or sense of accomplishment.
