Disabled people are tired of being required, yet again, to prove themselves to a third party simply to obtain the reasonable adjustments at venues across the UK to which they are legally entitled. The increasing reliance on schemes such as the Nimbus Access Card risks creating additional barriers rather than removing them. When concerns are raised, companies using the Nimbus Access Card should respond publicly and transparently, not seek to contain discussions behind private correspondence. Public responses allow all disabled people, unpaid carers and advocates to understand the organisation's position, policies and rationale. Transparency promotes accountability, consistency and trust, whereas private responses leave others facing the same issues without the information they need to make informed decisions or challenge discriminatory practices. Disabled people deserve accessible services based on their rights, not another layer of assessment, verification and gatekeeping.
