That saying that you’ll lose friends when you start taking your life seriously is so real. I used to have a lot of friends until I started Amazon KDP and became serious about making my own money. Now, I barely have any. Let me tell you what happened. When I started KDP, I spent so much time on my laptop trying to figure things out and build something for myself. But because I wasn’t making money yet, some of my friends would say I was always on that laptop and nothing was coming out of it. 😭😂 Imagine trying to build something you believe in while the people around you think you’re wasting your time. It wasn’t just that, though. Our conversations and priorities started becoming different, too. Not everyone is ambitious, and I understand that. There’s nothing wrong with choosing a different path in life. But I’ve realised that I connect more easily with people who have goals, who think about their future, and who are actively working towards something. I tried to maintain those friendships, but eventually, I realised that we were growing apart. I’m not saying you can’t be friends with someone who has different goals from yours. But I do believe that the people around you can influence your mindset and how you see your future. Sometimes, taking your life seriously means accepting that not everyone will understand what you’re trying to build. And sometimes, you grow apart.
