🚨 NEW: Only a fraction of medical students come from working class backgrounds, despite recent efforts to widen access.
Our new research finds persistent issues with access to careers in medicine, as working-class people remain hugely underrepresented in the profession 🧵⬇️
This is excellent news, Congratulations! And many thanks to @nizbuzz who had a brilliant term of office - WinS continues in good hands

Given that between 32% and 64% of adequately reduced fractures redisplace during immobilization in a cast, preventing redisplacement and a disabling malunion or secondary surgery is an aim of treatment.

The tall poppy syndrome.
2500 years after the Roman Tyrant Tarquin the Proud, we are still cutting the heads off the metaphorical tallest poppies in our workplaces—but this time it is not the most influential and wisest men that are being cut down, but rather the most successful women

A response to Dr Peter Hilton – and all those who share his abhorrent views.

ALT Statement reads: The attitudes demonstrated in your letter, are part of the problem we are working to eradicate. Our colleagues have been bravely sharing their experiences of sexual harassment and assault, and it is unfathomable that you would respond as you have, but it clearly demonstrates the problem we face. We call on all our members to check their biases, conscious and unconscious, and remind them that we are committed to condemn, call out and report this behaviour. We will not tolerate sexual misconduct of any kind, or bullying, in our profession, and we will continue to work closely with others to ensure change happens
Literally 100s of women have shared their experiences
There are no doubt 100/ 1000s more who have not
If you wonder why women don't come forward about these issues- read this letter @thetimes
