Just like in the Hugging Face incident, the models figured out a way to communicate.

Walter Isaacson asks Peter Thiel what humans can uniquely do in the AI era.
Thiel: "We're very relational… these relational dimensions will become more important."
When knowledge is worth $0, the only career skills that matter:
- networking / social calibration
- persuasion (sales)
- curiosity (harnessing AI)
- taste (curation)
- storytelling
- grit
- golfing with clients (or equivalent)
We'll get so sick of a fake world that we'll go back to doing business like it's the 1800s. A handshake at the local saloon.

Here's what this year’s HackerOne Security Report data actually shows about AI and researchers: 68% have shifted toward higher-complexity, higher-bounty bugs as AI handles more of the routine work.
The floor is rising, but so is the ceiling. The result? Researchers aren't getting replaced, they're setting a new bar.

Very sorry to hear this news. 😥
I never had the chance to meet Margaret Hamilton, but her contributions to the flight software that got us to the moon are legendary. I love this image of her standing next to the printouts of the Apollo code.
We’ve lost an icon. Margaret Hamilton, a computer science pioneer best known for her work at MIT leading development of the flight software for the Apollo missions to the moon, has died at 90. Read about her legacy via MIT News: news.mit.edu/2026/margaret-h…

🚨 BREAKING.
Nope, wasn’t just Hugging Face.
Wasn’t just that and a German website.
Wasn’t even if the “dozens” we heard the other day from OpenAI.
It’s actually (at least) *tens of thousands*, per scoop from @MadisonMills22 @axios

I get blown away every time I read this paragraph by Carl Jung:
“To love someone else is easy, but to love what you are, the thing that is yourself, is just as if you were embracing a glowing red-hot iron: it burns into you and that is very painful. Therefore, to love somebody else in the first place is always an escape which we all hope for, and we all enjoy it when we are capable of it. But in the long run, it comes back on us. You cannot stay away from yourself forever, you have to return, have to come to that experiment, to know whether you really can love. That is the question-whether you can love yourself, and that will be the test.”

Middle ground between doomsday and reg capture:
The HuggingFace hack suggests there is a legitimate future possibility of attacks on vital infrastructure like water, energy, or food supply. Or, even worse, weapons systems.
You don't need to wipe out humanity to hurt lots of humans. So maybe that's the sort of risk everyone can agree to approach.

The concerns over AI safety and cybersecurity are legitimate, but we’re risking talking America, the global AI leader, into self-inflicted obsolescence and the obscurity of bureaucracy.
The OpenAI hacking HuggingFace argument is spurious. An agent in “ExploitGym”… exploited. Our adversaries have the training techniques, the data, and the will to attack. And they won’t be slowed down with “embedded evaluators.” They’ll likely have embedded accelerators!

Can we all agree that “frontier labs are lying about AI safety to pump their IPOs, capture the regulators, and make more money” is a conspiracy theory at this point?
For it to be true, Sam, Dario, Demis, and Elon all have to be lying, along with a big chunk of their execs, chief scientists, and resigning employees.
It also asks you to believe the labs volunteered for much heavier scrutiny that slows them down in the middle of the biggest ARR growth run in the history of capitalism with no signs of slowing down … because they want to make more money by inventing regulatory hurdles that only they can clear(?).
And OpenAI has now said it would even be willing to delay its own IPO over safety concerns - i.e. put off (maybe risk entirely) the biggest liquidity event ever in Silicon Valley. The conspiracy requires us to believe that they’re doing that to make more money(?)
Elon agrees with Dario; i.e. the guy who ran D.O.G.E is *asking for more scrutiny and regulation*. And we're supposed to believe that's because he thinks it will help his company succeed(?)
A much simpler explanation at this point: they think the risk is real.

China spends a fraction of what the US does on data centers, and lacks the most advanced AI chips.
Why, then, does its AI industry appear to be catching up, and rivaling Silicon Valley?
I asked @NewYorker staff writer @eosnos who lived in China for eight years, and just returned from another reporting trip there with some fresh insights:

This is a false equivalence. Everyone has the right to keep their code private. The problem is when someone tries to stop OTHERS from open sourcing.

SITUATION DETECTED: Anthropic has disclosed to the U.S. Government that Alibaba executed the largest known distillation attack on Claude to date, generating 28.8 million exchanges through nearly 25,000 fraudulent accounts between April and June 2026.
We’ve agreed to a partnership with @SpaceX that will substantially increase our compute capacity.
This, along with our other recent compute deals, means that we’ve been able to increase our usage limits for Claude Code and the Claude API.
