βIt was easy to understand what to submit, when, and in what format. Having fields with templates in them made it easier to fill out the required informationβ

Hearing "best in track" after getting drained hits different fr. Huge comeback and massive W for Alluvren!
My first hackathon win.
Alluvren won Best Investment Infrastructure at the HackCanton Season 3 Grand Final.
Honestly, I needed this one. My wallet was drained recently, and that knocked me hard. Hearing βYou are best in this trackβ hit different.
Hereβs how it went.
Alluvren is a redemption desk for private funds on Canton. When investors ask for more money back than the fund has in a window, someone has to decide who gets what, and today thatβs a spreadsheet and an email thread.
On Alluvren, a payout only executes when two locks open:
π the fundβs own rules: treasury, the COO, and compliance when itβs under 50% funded
π BitSafe governance: a threshold of members confirming from their own nodes
Each investor sees only their own allocation. The ledger itself enforces pro-rata, so nobody can be favoured.
Along the way, I also sent 11 pull requests to BitSafeβs Decentralization Manager. All 11 are merged.
My heart was racing before the pitch. Four minutes, a recorded demo, two minutes of questions, and then my projectβs name came up on the winners slide.
Thank you to [@CantonNetwork ] [@BitSafe_Finance ] [@appsfactory_cc ] and the judges. Your feedback made the product better.

π Umbra won the @BitSafe_Finance Gold track at HackCanton Season 3!
This season we hosted our parties across two nodes, stopped our own node and settled a trade on DevNet despite that.
Thank you to BitSafe for backing decentralization on Canton, thank you to @appsfactory_cc for organising and creating the perfect place to grow canton developers, and projectsπ«‘ and thanks also, to the judges too!
A big congrats to every finalist and winner you guys shipped this season fr!!π«‘

Massive W on the Best Data category, huge congrats! Plimsoll is absolute fire!!
Umbra won the BitSafe Gold track at HackCanton S3!
The moment that actually stuck with me the most this season, was switching our own node off and watching a trade still settle live on DevNet through BitSafe's node.
Decentralization really did stop being a slide thing, and became a property of @UmbraOnCanton .
Big thanks to the @BitSafe_Finance team, and @appsfactory_cc. Congrats to all the winners and finalists this season the builds this season were unreal. Upwards onlyπ
Congrats on the win and that bag! Certified banger ecosystem tool. The journey continues, LFG!
π WE DID IT! PLIMSOLL IS A HACKATHON WINNER! ππ
Thrilled to share that Plimsoll has won $500 in the Best Data, Analytics & Ecosystem Dashboards category! π₯π

3rd place overall is huge, massive congrats to the Tavryn team! Solving real-world invoice problems in Nigeria using Daml smart contracts is an absolute chad move. This is just the beginning for sure!
Replying to @tavryn1
@tavryn1 won 3rd place overall at the #HackCanton by @appsfactory_cc Season 3.
Small businesses in Nigeria often wait months to get paid by the big companies they work for, and banks rarely lend to them against those unpaid invoices.
Tavryn lets them get loans against their invoice. A small business uploads its invoice, the company that owes the money approves it, and a lender pays the business upfront.
How Canton makes it work:
β’ The rules are written as Daml smart contracts. If two lenders try to fund the same invoice at the same moment, Canton accepts one and refuses the other, so each invoice can be financed only once.
β’ The lender's payment in Canton Coin and the record that the invoice is financed go through in one transaction. Either both happen or neither does.
β’ Each party sees only its own deals. Lenders can't see each other's offers, and a business's invoices stay private.
β’ Lenders sign in with their own Canton wallet, like Loop.
It's live today on Canton DevNet at tavryn.site
This win is just the beginning. Tavryn is just getting startedπ₯
Thank you to the judges, the HackCanton team and @CantonNetwork π
Massive W on the Gold track, huge congrats bro! This post-hackathon breakdown is pure GOLD, ty for dropping the alpha for the next szn. Keep cooking!
Gm Gm chat! so Iβd love to drop my takeaways from the just concluded HackCanton S3, from what i actually loved this season, down to issues i faced and of course some builder tip so you dont waste time on things that Ive already figured out.
So for S3, @umbraoncanton focused mainly on decentralisation of our node, as centralisation already showed how bad it could be when your only node is down, and what I loved this season, was how the @BitSafe_Finance's team actually showed up, and assisted with the co-hosting of our parties, on their node. They actually stayed with the node-down run even after the first attempt
failed, and that genuinely meant a lot to us! The @appsfactory_cc team were also super active and i could see how they swiftly attended to other participants' issues kudos to the team.
So, down to challenges I faced this season, the one that actually stood out, was with the wallet integration, where i found out that every wallet signs differently, so even when dealing with just 4 wallets, and those wallets wanted the same 32-byte hash, they all kinda wanted it in 4 different shapes, so for instance, 1 decodes base64 itself, while another straight up wants it wrapped by its own SDK, another UTF-8 expands a bare string before signing.
So basically, if not careful, you just find out withdrawals or basic transactions silently do nothing, and unfortunately, most of our integration time went there, not even into the Daml lol.
With all these said, what i genuinely feel would help S4, is,
β’ A link to documentation holding details about exactly which bytes a wallet should sign, with sample hashes to check against if possible (Im actually working on setting up a public repo for this later too).
β’ Again, links to docs for the one ledger permission an externally-signed trade needs before it can execute.
And now as a developer on Canton this might help you save some time actually;
β’ Iβd advise you run tests against 2 wallets from day one, because 1 working wallet proves nothing lol except if you only plan to integrate 1 single wallet though.
β’ Record the demo before deadline hours this is actually very important, as a poorly made demo could miss lots of key points that judges watch out for.
But in all, the builds this season were really at the top, and it was really nice listening to you guys pitch yesterdayπ«‘π«‘

Designing for multihosting from day one is a big brain move ngl. Mad respect for the build and congrats on the Grand Final!!
HackCanton S3 is a wrap, and Umbra made the Grand Final!
Some notes on what building a dark OTC venue on @CantonNetwork taught us this season;
Like I've always said, @UmbraOnCanton is a private RFQ venue for block trades, where each quotes are visible only to the parties who need to see them, thanks to Cantonβs sub-transaction privacy, so basically, when a trade is agreed, both legs settle atomically as a CIP-56 DvP. Nobody has to trust anybodyβs books.
This season 3, we actually focused more on decentralization. We co-hosted parties with @BitSafe_Finance's node, then stopped our own node and settled a trade on DevNet anyway. Seeing that update id land was the moment it clicked, that the venue no longer depends on us staying online.
One thing we learnt with multihosting tho, is that it's powerful, and truly useful, but you have to design for it from day one, to save you lot of stress.
To be very honest, the bar this season was seriously high. Finalists built things that only make sense on Canton, and i actually learnt a lot from reading them!
Congrats to every finalist and every team that shippedπ«‘
And a huge thanks to @appsfactory_cc and the judgesπ«‘
