It's with much sadness my @newskitdesign adventure is at an end, we’ve been made redundant. I’m devastated for my lovely team. So I'm looking for a new design or accessibility lead role, ideally on a #designSystem gerireid.com DMs open and RTs welcome!

After months spent with the entire team working heads down on this project (from building the infrastructure to coming up with a sleek design, from migrating the existing content to reviewing it all line by line and making sure that it was as accessible as possible)...

...we've finally publicly launched the HashiCorp design system, called Helios! šŸŽ‰šŸš€ It's Ember-based, it's already used in many of our products, and it's been an labour of love for the past 18 months for me and my entire HDS team at HashiCorp.

These layoffs are hitting close to home (not me, but a good friend). If anyone is looking for an amazing design technologist who lives in Seattle, let me know.

I've seen a lot of people asking "why does everyone think Twitter is doomed?" As an SRE and sysadmin with 10+ years of industry experience, I wanted to write up a few scenarios that are real threats to the integrity of the bird site over the coming weeks.

One of my friends spoke out about her experience with Modern Frontends. I have some things to say too. It seems like a lot of people do. cassie.codes/posts/modern-fr…

Hi, distributed systems engineer here. Systems like Twitter are both resilient, and fragile.
So, like... how does this thing end? Does it just run out of gas? The scrolling gets slower and slower and just stops like the big @PriceIsRight wheel, orrrrr.....?

Sometimes I hit a problem I’m fascinated by - all cosy self care goes out the window, time zooms past, it’s suddenly 6hours later and I haven’t eaten. I think that’s what people picture when they picture ā€œHARDCOREā€ But cosy is flow-state fuel. I can’t hit it without rest.

Also - notes. I start late, work slowly and take a lot of breaks, I also work quite late into the evening. That’s why flexible hours and remote is so great. You can shape your workday into something that works for you. I hated 9-5, I hit peak productivity around 3/4pm
Whatever the opposite of ā€œhardcoreā€ 10x rock star dev is, that’s what I want. cosycore, moving slowly, making things right, petting the dog, naps, staring out of the window pondering problems and drinking tea.

This is a tweet of appreciation for @culturedcode Things — a 5 year old _all-new_ app that is still seen as the top reference for great design across platforms. 5 years. Here's some of my favorite UI details:

The audacity of these a******s at @Strikingly is unbelievable! 🤬 I've already asked them to remove me from their lists... don't know how many times. And they send follow-up emails like this!?! Do they really think *this* works? 😤
