Introducing myself to my new followers (and haters lol). Hello! 👋 I’m a disabled indie writer and artist living in the East Midlands. Half British, half Spanish, and proud of both. At 41 (this year), I decided to make the biggest gamble of my life: taking the plunge into building a writing career and online business - instead of going to university as planned. 💃 And after 15 years housebound with lupus, myositis, chronic migraine, ADHD and PTSD, I’m unemployed and done pretending a “normal” job is possible. So here’s where I’m at: I’m writing a six-book dystopian romance saga - a mix of romance, politics and science, with a disabled, neurodivergent FMC. The world behind my flagship saga has massively evolved to the point where I’ll be able to write multiple stories and series set in this world. My writing career will be this entire world. I’m obsessed 🥰 I’m also building an online business selling digital products for readers and writers - to support my writing career and keep the roof over my head. I’m politically unfiltered. I talk about disability, politics, fascism, books, Spanish culture, climate change, the welfare system, tech and biotech…and whatever is on my mind 🧠 The hate doesn’t stop me. Looking to connect with writers, artists and like-minded people so we can build a less hateful space online ❤️🥰 linktr.ee/areyoflight

Today was an awful day for the global fascist project, and therefore a great day for humanity. May it continue with the U.S. this November

This person appears to think that elderly people can’t be pedos. I’m disabled. But I have zero empathy for a toxic pedo, regardless of his age or disabilities. Btw, Meghan shouldn’t have to be judged for HIS behaviour.
I tried very hard not to dive into the Meghan Markle drama that has swept across the internet. But as someone who cares deeply about vulnerable people, the elderly, people living with disability, the disadvantaged and the weakest members of the community, I feel compelled to say something. In all of this, I believe we need to remember one important fact: Thomas Markle Sr. Is an elderly and vulnerable man living with a disability and, by all appearances, in a far more financially disadvantaged position than many of the people publicly condemning him, including members of his own family. For that reason, I think anyone who has already taken a side, should take a step back and allow the proper authorities to investigate the allegations and establish the facts. Thomas Markle has denied the allegations. Until an investigation is completed and the evidence is presented, shouldn’t he be given the benefit of doubt? I also find myself asking: why have these allegations emerged now, when Thomas Markle Sr. is no longer in the Philippines therefore unable to respond to the situation in person? And, why has there been strong desire from Meghan and Prince Harry to return to the UK and try to rebuild ties with the Royal Family ? And what role, if any, does security or the possibility of taxpayers funded protection play in this? Whatever Meghan’s reasons may be for becoming involved in allegations concerning her father? I sincerely hope that the truth is established before the public rushes to judgment. Because if the investigation ultimately finds that Thomas Markle Sr. did not engage in the conduct is being accused of, we have to ask ourselves, what damage has already been done to an elderly vulnerable man? And if someone is deliberately or recklessly placing allegations of this nature against a person because of their age, disability, or vulnerability, shouldn’t we also be asking whether that could amount to a form of abuse and exploitation? The emotional and reputational consequences can be enormous once an allegation is released into the public domain, you cannot simply take it back. And at this point, I am looking at Meghan Markle as his daughter, Duchess of Sussex, wife of Prince Harry, in the context of how they have conducted themselves publicly over the last 6 years, and find myself asking one simple question: What happens if the allegations are proven to be false??🤷‍♀️

“When you use “retard” to describe someone you consider foolish, ignorant, or intellectually deficient, you’re drawing on a long history of using intellectual disability as a measure of human worth.” One of the best reasons to block someone.
There’s a word I see far too often in social media exchanges, including from people who otherwise consider themselves thoughtful, educated, and compassionate: “retard.” Let me explain why I find its use so objectionable. When you use “retard” to describe someone you consider foolish, ignorant, or intellectually deficient, you’re drawing on a long history of using intellectual disability as a measure of human worth. The term once had a place in clinical terminology. That history doesn’t make its use as an insult acceptable. In fact, it helps explain why the insult is so damaging. Consider what you’re actually communicating. You’re treating intellectual disability as something shameful, something contemptible, something that makes a person worthy of ridicule. And the people who bear the consequences aren’t necessarily the individuals you’re arguing with. They’re people with intellectual disabilities, their families, and others who have spent decades challenging the stigma attached to those conditions. You can dismantle a bad argument. You can expose dishonesty, ignorance, hypocrisy, or breathtaking stupidity. You can even do it with humor and considerable sharpness. None of that requires borrowing a disability to insult someone. I have no objection to vigorous disagreement. I welcome challenges to my reasoning, evidence, and conclusions. I’ve been wrong before, and I expect I’ll be wrong again. But there’s a difference between intellectual combat and casual cruelty. My rules for engagement with this account are simple: Use the word “retard” as an insult, and you will be muted. Use it again, and you’ll be blocked. Disagree with me all you like. Challenge my evidence. Question my conclusions. Just don’t expect me to accommodate language that demeans people who have nothing to do with our disagreement.

Theoretical maximum PIP weekly rate: £194.60 Cost of a clinical therapist per session: £90-£250 63% of PIP recipients don't get the maximum rate. 3% of PIP recipients claim *only* for depression or anxiety. This is a propaganda campaign against the sick and disabled.
end stages of a concerted campaign to delegitimise depression & anxiety as mental illnesses

REMINDER. Criticising men’s behaviour isn’t misandry. Women calling out sexism aren’t oppressing you. Misogyny kills women. Being criticised hurts your feelings. Get a grip.

I need for you guys to understand that the people who hate Meghan and Harry are not well. They’re just not. It’s not normal or healthy to spend all of your time hating on complete strangers. Some have turned it into a way to make money, and some are mentally unwell and this is their outlet and/or sense of community. Of course they’re defending an accused pedophile and are trying to fault Meghan. Their mental illness and/or money depend on making Meghan into a demon. The idea that Meghan may be an innocent bystander threatens their livelihood and/or forces them to face their mental illness. This is devastating to them. That’s why they’re so particularly unhinged right now. It’s a complete collapse of finance, community, and/or mental wellness, and they’re finally having to face it.

The cope 😆
I am no conspiracy theorist, but there is no way that Labour are on 30% in the polls and 6% in front of Reform. It is impossible that there are that many uneducated people out there. My theory is that Reform voters have been telling pollsters that they would vote Labour. This would then make it look like Labour had a huge lead. Burnham would then call an election because he is desperate to have his own mandate and then we could get rid of him. Does anyone buy my idea?
