Today, we mourn former State Rep. Scott Ferguson of West Memphis. A physician, community leader, state leader, and nationally regarded medical authority, Scott contributed so much to Arkansas. Among his survivors are his wife, Deborah, who also served in the Arkansas House.
Today we remember the 25th anniversary of 9/11, grieve for those who lost their lives and whose lives were forever changed, and honor the first responders whose heroism we will never forget.

Today is the 159th anniversary of Juneteenth, when the last group of enslaved Black Americans in the Confederacy learned they were free.
Juneteenth is a federal holiday now— but there is still so much work to do to address the systemic systems of oppression, discrimination, racism and social and economic injustice that face all Black Arkansans & Americans.
Arkansas, while we’ve still got so much work to do to to ensure that our state and nation truly guarantees LIBERTY & JUSTICE for ALL, Juneteenth is a reminder of how far we’ve come and how far we have left to go.
Let’s celebrate the progress we’ve made— and recommit ourselves to the fight for a better future for our country and for Arkansas ✅

THE ARKANSAS LEGISLATURE CONVENES TOMORROW FOR THE FISCAL SESSION 🚨
During the fiscal session, legislators will approve our state budget. And the budget the GOP legislature and Gov. Sanders is proposing is BAD NEWS for Arkansas.
IT’S SAD BUT TRUE— Gov. Sanders and the Republican Supermajority will push a budget that funds private school vouchers as their TOP PRIORITY with no end in sight.
You are probably asking…
What about increasing funding for child care to help working families?
Or… providing more support to our senior centers or centers for adults with disabilities?
How about supporting our rural hospitals? Making it more affordable and accessible for Arkansans to see a doctor?
Nope. Not even one of these things is a priority in the GOP budget.

So sorry to hear of Rep. Stan Berry’s passing. The year I was elected, he came back to the House, and we served on several committees together. He was frank, funny, warm, kind, and always great company. We’ll miss Stan.

In the past few years, AR has seen a 63% increase of children living in poverty.
Proven solutions, like child tax credits, exist. If we don’t invest in some of these solutions now, it will prove to be catastrophic to all Arkansans for generations.
