“Conclusion: In this network meta-analysis, we found no convincing evidence that any adjuncts administered on their own or alongside exercise are more effective than exercise alone. Therefore, we recommend that exercise monotherapy continues to be offered as first-line treatment for patients with Achilles and patellar tendinopathies and GTPS for at least 3 months before an adjunct is considered.” pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3755…

At uni I was taught to check THREADS in a patient’s past medical history. Recently I’ve adapted this to DEC’S THREADS. So why add the DECS?… Digestion - gastrointestinal complaints can be a sign of Low Energy Availability and digestive diseases can be a feature of inflammatory arthropathy (which can cause joint and tendon pain). Eyes - Uveitis (pain, inflammation and redness of the eye) is associated with Ankylosing Spondylitis. Cancer - a history of cancer is a red flag 🚩 as it increases the possibility that current symptoms may be cancer related. Skin - psoriasis can be accompanied by psoriatic arthritis which often affects joints and tendons. This may be more common in those with psoriatic nail changes. The addition of DECS helps the screening process then we can explore relevant areas in more detail. What do you think? Would you use this in clinic? 🤔

Sharing info regarding increased femoral anteversion, it’s effects on biomechanics and possible contribution /association with MSK conditions. Not suggesting that it’s easily modifiable. Nevertheless it’s something to take into account when assessing & treating the lower limb.
