Tomorrow on The Global Story — a return to my political roots.
Most midterms are about domestic issues, like the economy. And this one is, of course too.
But in Michigan — Israel/Gaza has become such a major flashpoint.
We tell the story of how that happened.

Last week, Houthi rebels launched a series of missile strikes on Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital. Surveillance footage showed a fireball erupting as airport passengers ran for cover. At least 14 people have been killed and hundreds were injured.
This marks an escalation in the Yemen conflict. Nawal Al-Maghafi joined The Global Story's Asma Khalid and shared what life is like for children living under the shadow of this war.

Journalist Noah Adams, who hosted NPR's "All Things Considered" for nearly two decades, has died. He was 84.
To millions of radio listeners, Adams was a steady, reassuring voice guiding Americans through historic moments from the fall of the Berlin Wall to the Sept. 11 attacks.
But Adams also had a gift for telling quieter, more personal stories, capturing the lives and experiences of everyday Americans.
He wrote five books, exploring subjects from the Wright brothers to his own experience learning how to play the piano in his 50s.
Adams' wife said he died at their home in Ohio on Friday.

We keep hearing commentators and politicians say that we’re living in unprecedented times. But are we, really?
Had the opportunity to chat with my legendary colleague @JohnSimpsonNews as he marks 60 years at the BBC — to put THIS moment in context.
Are we really living in unprecedented (and worrying) times?

" Like a lot of elections, Americans are first and foremost worried about the economy and the cost of living," said Dina Smeltz (@RoguePollster), Council managing director & chair of public opinion and foreign policy. "What's a little bit different this time around, is that political strategists usually struggle with how to interpret foreign policy issues and how they impact people's daily lives. But because of some of the administration's actions around the world right now, Americans are really feeling direct impact."
Smeltz joined @BBCNews's Asma Khalid (@asmamk) and @NBCNews's John Lapinsky to discuss how factors like the war in Iran and tariffs are shaping voter attitudes ahead of November's elections, and to unpack the results of the 2026 Chicago Council Survey.

Am so grateful for all that I’ve learned from Mary Louise over the years — one of the best interviewers in the business. (But also such a lovely human! I remember walking into her office for advice after I had two boys in the span of two years and was trying to figure out life!)
