I’ve been noticing the butterflies migrating. They're like tissue paper with wings, the kind that should tear in the first rough wind, yet they drift across four lanes of traffic like the road is just more open sky.
I brake for them. Not because I'm noble, but because it feels wrong not to. Something that small has no business treating a highway like a suggestion :) They don’t flinch or wait for a safe gap. They just go, light as a thought, across asphalt that would erase them without giving a second thought.
There’s something defiant in that. The world is loud and fast, and these scraps of color keep crossing it anyway, season after season. Delicate, yes—but not fragile the way we mean it.
So I slow down. For a moment the noise drops out, and all that’s left is this small, bright thing moving through the hard world like it was built for it. So are you, friend. Don't forget that.
