the effect of 10 years of growth of socialism in the United States is largely a massively invigorated *liberalism*—one grounded in the socialist & populist critique of neoliberalism. now if you’re a socialist, that might seem annoying. and it is. but that’s just dialectics baby.

obviously, last night was a blip on the radar compared to the scale of anti capitalism and anti imperialism. the "real" US left is still narrow, shallow, and timid. the fight to reverse the dire exacerbation of transphobia, islamophobia, and more is only at a new starting line 🧵
the political class and electorate of this new, progressive, nominally "socialist" movement is going to face its most important test yet now, and I don't think they're serious enough or prepared enough. my expectations are not high that much that ought to be done will be done
good morning. libbing out is now OVER. however, revelling in the abject failure of the new right is JUST BEGINNING
