Saying all this while not acknowledging that Elizabeth Holmes actions caused a man to commit suicide, and that will be objectively worse than anything that Amanda could’ve ever done with her role in the dropout, makes this whole argument incredibly disingenuous
I think Nathan Fielder did a really good job with You Can See Everything. Especially in showing how unwilling Amanda Seyfried was to acknowledge her own role in potentially harming another person. He had everyone looking at one another and questioning everyone else’s intentions, while seemingly being completely unwilling to examine their own behavior. I thought Amanda’s resistance to doing that was especially revealing
I also obviously think Billy is terrible. I think he’s cruel and exploitative. I’ve seen Elizabeth’s tweets for years and thought they were her. Finding out they’re his was jarring and sad.
But as much as I dislike Billy, I think he made a very good point. Why would he care what Amanda thinks? She’s an actress who has profited from portraying his wife as a bizarre and dishonest and manipulative freak to an audience that is largely voyeuristic, incredibly binary in their moral thinking, and seemingly unable to separate fiction from reality
I don’t think that Amanda needed to defend Elizabeth or excuse anything she’s done but I do think it’s bizarre how unwilling she seemed to consider that she might have contributed to another person’s suffering
People who genuinely understand cities know that many of China’s shiny new urban centres, impressive as they are, still lack the kind of accumulated urban culture that makes a place interesting. I still love Shenzen but for the now the scene is still boring in my opinion. Spend enough time there and you will know what I mean.

Amanda seyfried (who did not commit any felonies) showed 100x the self reflection of her impact than Elizabeth Holmes (who was convicted of felonies)
what are you even saying lmao

but she did tho? She even admitted her defenses were up reading what Elizabeth said about her when she previously empathized with her. And she was absolutely correct when she said that Elizabeth did that to herself, not her.

She did acknowledge it though, several times, and more than she needed to. Lest we forget she was an actor doing her job when she portrayed Holmes. Grow up

people are so hopped up on trying to frame Amanda Seyfried as “morally compromised” that they are inventing a version of the movie where Billy said he was dismissing her input because she made his wife look bad when he actually said it was because she insulted Charlie Kirk lol

The idea that Amanda Seyfried owes Holmes an apology for portraying her in a miniseries is asinine, especially coupled with the fact that Holmes has never once been sorry about her own actions (including driving a person to suicide!) and still believes her own bullshit

is there a reason why tech people from

In San Francisco, you can't just watch a new movie.
You’re invited to a VC funded screening.
You wait to see if you get off the waitlist.
You text your friends to see if they're going to the same one and no, not that other one that everyone else went to.
You thank the startup (ty @ExtendHQ!) for hosting.
You post online that You Saw Everything to humble brag that you went a watch party.
