1/2 In 2020 I used Notability to write out some things that work for me. Summed up… marry well, use systems, keep learning, and hang with good people. First 4 are here.
This my friend, colleague, and shooting mentor Ron Avery. He's passed away now. My memory was this day was the start of a TPC Instructor Academy we conducted. Internal training. Investment. Ron knew so much. I worked with him for many classes, hundreds of students, and each had a little "something" new I'd not heard or considered before. Here he's 1.5 years into his final battle with cancer. We were trying to put as much of what he knew into our cadre before it was too late. His voice was shot so the wires are a speaker / microphone I rigged up so all could hear him.
I'm printing photos of flowers for a walk down our stairs. This is a memory though... my niece, age 7, had gathered up fallen flowers on our desert walk (not allowed to pick live ones) and made an improvised bouquet. Even the desert has flowers. A metaphor for life.
Ugh. I'd argue that he's accelerated their demise. Not that I care. Not my country, not my problem, except they keep interfering here which is a YUGE problem.
I've been "there" for the first shots of 3 world champions, 2 age 10, 1 age 9 at the time.
This is my son in 2009, age 10, shooting in his first practical shooting match.
We knew nothing, he talked me into getting a Kimber Desert Warrior .45 ACP - for HIM. I shot a G34.
He's 29 now. Multiple time champ & gold medal winner, and we get to work together.
He's down at Camp Lejeune just finishing training a Recon Platoon, and is now working with a MARSOC detachment.
You never know where things are gonna go.
btw: Our shoot house's address was "1911 Colt Way".
Humming Birds are hard to get good sharp photos of.
What memory is this? A very pleasant afternoon at a small bird preserve in SoCal with my brother. I missed an exit on a toll-road and ended up paying the toll 3x.

I'm fortunate to have traveled extensively all over the world AND to have family. And family wins by a mile, if you have to choose.
We've scapped plans for a month in Europe this Christmas. Just seemed "meh" and riots don't help.
Instead looking at putting that money between now and death into a farmstead that requires daily care and our kids.
I don’t understand this obsession with traveling, it’s very shallow. You especially see this exemplified in boomers.
I’ve walked the temples of Kyoto, I’ve stood at the top of the Eiffel Tower, I lived in the fast lane of NYC for ten years, have shopped for luxury items in Dubai.
None of it matters, whatsoever, if you don’t have a family. And I never really look back to think of those memories and experience.
Pat knew.
Well really everybody "knew"... none of this was for our benefit. Demons have taken over.
Pat Buchanan, 1999:
“By moving NATO onto Russia’s front porch, we have scheduled a twenty-first century confrontation. … America will face a hellish dilemma: risk confrontation with a nuclear-armed Russia determined to recreate its old sphere of influence, or renege on solemn commitments and see NATO collapse.”
Therefore, he said, “Offering NATO memberships to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and, as some urge, Ukraine is rashness bordering on madness.” Referring to maps the Clinton team must have ignored, Buchanan warned, “This would put the Russian base at Kaliningrad behind NATO lines and bring into a U.S.-led alliance three nations with huge Russian minorities.” Foreseeing future conflict, he observed that “Latvia is almost half Russian; eastern Ukraine, almost entirely Russian. America could neither defend nor liberate these nations without the risk of nuclear war.”

I'm a shutterbug with no pretentions that I'm making art. I'm saving memories. All art on the walls of our house is mine - but it's memories I want to remember every day.
In 2013 I ran a few large matches - state, regional , national and world championships. I always made practice ranges available the week before... the winners were there. Here Jessie, who won that year, mentally visualizes for minutes before stepping on to the practice range.

2/2 Last 4. I thousands of high quality photos of my kids and our family’s life over the last 25 years. Take lots of photos, and taking good ones is only slightly harder than bad ones. The remaining slides are how I deal with people - in person and online. Hope these help!
As women trend towards being men (but not quite good at it), they value genetics more highly.
🚨 UPDATED TERRA CHAD RESULTS
At this point I’m not really testing whether attractive men get more matches.
We established that months ago.
Now I’m trying to figure out what actually makes women STOP matching with an attractive guy.
So recently I’ve made Terra Chad:
• 5’3
• Openly say he hates women
• Say he has zero respect for women
• Married and “separating”
• Have a pregnant wife
• Tell a match his wife is literally in active labor
• Immediately ask women to hook up
• Visit NYC from London with nowhere to stay
• Ask a woman he just matched with if he can stay at her place
• Tell women directly that his goal is just to sleep with them
And somehow we keep getting the same result:
They keep talking to him. 5’3 Chad still got interest, but not as much as the others. So height matters a lot
“I hate women” Chad had a girl call his profile disgusting… then continue the conversation and agree to a date.
Married Chad told a girl he was splitting up with his wife and she responded:
“Aww I can help you” Then SHE suggested Wednesday drinks in the West Village.
Another version told a match his wife was CURRENTLY IN LABOR at the hospital and that they were splitting up.
He immediately asked if she wanted to hook up that night.
Her response?
“Can we grab a drink first in public?”
Then gave him her number.
London Chad told a girl he didn’t even book somewhere to stay in NYC and asked if he could stay with her.
She responded:
“Haha let’s meet for a drink and find out”
This experiment started with height, race, age and location.
Then we tested unemployed Chad, broke Chad, DUI Chad, felon Chad, cheater Chad, OnlyFans Chad, “no sex” Chad.
Now we’re basically speedrunning every red flag imaginable. And I still haven’t found the line.
That’s the updated Terra Chad result:
The experiment is no longer “Does Chad win?”
It’s:
“How bad can Chad possibly make himself before being hot stops working?”
Apparently we need to go further…. Like where does the line get drawn, if it ever does??
I waited for my wife in front of this sign and watched a dozen+ people become very confused as to where they should go to the bathroom.
Why do writers of TV shows think men will throw up if they recall a past trauma? That's never happened.
Hung over? Food poisoning? Dead body ripe in a hot apartment for days. Sure. Daddy was mean or wife cheating or really anything not physical ... vomit never happened.
Up doing stuff since 0530. Well earned lunch of ribeye, organic grapes, fresh grown sprouts, home made sauerkraut on back patio in perfect fall weather. Later... cold plunge, then workout and sauna.
I've no idea how @Cloudflare works. It's AI does & I used the AI to manage some pretty complicated stuff there. Now the AI isn't answering & I'm completely befuddled about how to change/do anything in the Cloudflare UI.
Seems somewhat like a metaphor for coding with AI as well.
RDS vs irons is a settled debate that was obvious from the start.
Replying to @TheGlockieGuy
I've measured _thousands_ of shooters in scientifically designed tests of irons vs red dots. Red dots, once properly trained, are dominant. Skill is acquired faster. Higher skill is reached. Skill is retained. Accuracy much higher to farther distances, and speed retained or improved.
What is the training gap? They ain't iron sights, don't train them that way. What we see is that yields slow first shots on draw, reload or when acquiring target after moving. Use the target focus, not dot focus, things clean up.
The USA Open Division men's team won gold in Greece at the 2026 IPSC World Shoot Shotgun . Here is my son, part of the team, running a stage.
Most people in dev word already know this... LLM models are insanely good at making websites.
For grins I redid my
kennelson.com/ website in about an hour.
That included moving hosting to cloudflare, setting up API calls to its publishing system directly from Claude so that I can preview, test, and then publish. Amazing!
It replaces my single page business card one I did using Namecheaps web editor. All I did was give it some pictures, then some counsel, then chose themes, tweak the API a bit, and voila, website.
