What happens after an animal wins or loses a fight?
Check our new paper showing that winning and losing did not simply make the fish “better” or “worse” in a rivulus killifish!

Our accidental finding that "Low level contamination confounds population genomic analysis” is on bioRxiv - a fun collaborative project with @audreykward, @Brent__Shuman, Eduardo Scopel and @mcmomany biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Awesome work from my @dbensasson lab-mate @J_Pena412!!!

I lost one of my biggest supporters and role models a month ago - my Papa, who taught me to love science and to strive for goodness - and am grateful to be finding him in little things like grading and the way the sunlight hits the flowers around campus.

Congratulations to @kdyerlab for being awarded “WORLD’S GREATEST COORDINATOR”!!! She led our graduate program from 2016-2023.
Walking through campus seeing all the undergrads is so exciting - today’s the day! The sun is shining! Another great semester to be a Dawg!
I’m a simple woman: I do genetics at work, I come home and play a video game where I’m an apiarist and the whole premise is conservation of flowers and bees via cross-breeding. There’s an in-game Mendelian probability mechanic. Everything is beautiful.

Awesome hearing about introgression in hybrid Mimulus populations from @mattfarnitano - and a fabulous refresher on hybridization dynamics as well! #Evo2023

The BIG Y1000+ Project manuscript with complete genome sequences, quantitative phenotypic data, and a new ecological ontology for nearly every know species of yeast is now a preprint: biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… ! Big thanks to @DOpulente, @Lab_LaBella, @RokasLab, and the whole team!

Use the mic, even if you don’t think you need it.
Some of your audience may need things louder than you would, or have assistive devices that pick up from the mic
(All session rooms at #Evol2023 should have accessible seating both front and back)
Colleagues who check in with you about accessibility at conferences: priceless. #evolution2023 physical access has been pretty good so far (slow elevator though), and so far speakers have been using mikes which is helpful!
