"For decades in Toronto, property taxes barely went up. Even after last year's historic increase, Toronto remains the fourth-lowest residential property tax jurisdiction in Ontario." In contrast, #TTC fares rose nearly 2x rate of inflation over 3 decades. thestar.com/opinion/star-col…

Toronto's Budget Committee asked questions about the #TTC budget today. Video: youtube.com/watch?v=S1RNAnco… This slide shows how congestion has slowed down bus service. Service *hours* have gone up, but if buses are moving more slowly, riders won't experience more frequent service.

Data from @StephenWickens1 shows an exponential increase of transit costs in Toronto - far beyond inflation. Toronto once had one of the most competent, low-cost project delivery regimes in the world - particularly in subway building. We’ve regressed significantly. 2/

The interurban played a key role in developing the industrialised city. But over time, many interurban networks modernized or vanished—replaced by buses and overtaken by the private car. 🚗 Except in Katowice…🇵🇱 Production: @jedwinmok @EITUrbanMob ▶️youtu.be/Ypi8b1WgZ6A?si=GkMI…

In just 2024, Toronto has introduced: - fare integration across regional & local transit - massive off-peak service increases across the network: 15-30 min headways, 6 lines with all-day service - rebuilt stations, contactless payment, & more … and this is just the beginning!
GO Transit rail ridership continues to creep up and now sits at approximately its 2018 level for Q3'24. Service volume hasn't entirely recovered - 15-minute weekday service on the Lakeshore lines is missing. GO commuter trains also now have greater patronage than NJT's

Six people have been killed riding their bikes in Toronto this year--more than the previous three years combined. Bill 212 won't solve traffic congestion. Bill 212 will put lives at risk. Why is the province reopening old wounds for families who have already suffered?
Poorly installed bike lanes have only worsened Toronto’s record-breaking gridlock, making us the worst city for traffic in North America. It’s time to take action - that’s why we are removing Bloor, University and Yonge Street bike lanes. #traffic #gridlock #bikelanes #toronto #ontario
