According to @jasonschreier Bungie had 5-6 projects in development prior to the Sony acquisition. Sony bought Bungie for $3.6 billion in 2022 and the studio's experience in live service games was a selling factor. Just 4 years later we now see arguably the most successful FPS/MMO/RPG/Whatever Genre Bungie rolls the dice for Destiny to be today, shelved indefinitely, and the studio gutted with over 50% of its staff let go. Pete Parsons really pulled the heist of the century by hyping up Bungie so much and the second he got paid, he and everyone else holding up the curtain that hid the lies jumped off the plane with golden parachutes. We always said nothing can kill Destiny except for Destiny and that held true, any game labeled a "Destiny Killer" ultimately failed within weeks or months. Bungie wanted free from Microsoft in 2007 and later Activision in 2019 and then 3 years later we are back under new ownership in the form of Sony. I'll say it over and over again, Bungie was the problem. Out of touch higher ups and mismanaged funds lead us to where we are today; No destiny, marathon on the decline, and no future direction for the studio.
