ALT This two-night getaway retreat took place at the beautiful Camp Ronald McDonald in Idyllwild, CA on September 16-18. It was planned collectively by our AYA@USC Patient and Family Advisory Retreat Committee, which consists of young adult cancer patients and survivors who are passionate about giving back to the AYA community. Music, improv, mindfulness, breath work and writing, Tower of Challenge, archery, fishing, hiking, you name it! It was so inspiring to see how our young adults transformed out of their cancer/covid isolation and comfort zone during this retreat. They naturally bonded under the common denominator of cancer. Many of them were so excited and relieved to find such a supportive AYA community, where they can share freely their stories and cancer experiences, where they feel heard and understood, and where they find new friendship and do not feel isolated anymore.

ALT On August 27, AYA@USC Zootopia brought our young adults with cancer (ages 18-39) and their families together to have a great time at the Los Angeles Zoo. Besides free zoo admissions, guests also enjoyed a catered gourmet lunch at the zoo as well as special group activities for parents and kids respectively to bond with other families.
